4 of us went to Penny Lane for birthday celebrations. We booked in advance and were given a comfortable booth once we arrived. Our server Sam was lovely - welcoming, helpful, polite & fun; a lovely lad! Our food was delicious - our party had cheeseburgers, a chicken burger and the fried chicken & waffles. We all enjoyed our food. Had 2 round of drinks (cider, beer, wine) and then we ordered the Hook a Duck cocktail. £111 for the 4 of us. Service was at times a little slow (no reflection on Sam, he was running around the place and chasing our orders up). When we'd finished we had a go on the games, which was fun. We enjoyed the donkey derby a lot but it was a bit packed and there's not a huge variety of games to be honest. Ladies were sparkling clean, which is always a plus! We went for Sunday lunch and left feeling very disappointed. The seating was very cramped making it difficult for elderly or infirm diners. Although the waitress was pleasant the service was very slow - we waited 45 minutes for a steak and chips and a Thai Chicken Larb Gai. The chicken was tasty and was ok but the steak wasnât good and the chips were soggy. It wasnât expensive at all but neither was it good value.

First visit to Arnold though often in Nottingham centre for work. Great find of a pub friendly though pre-occupied staff, often found smoking outside when you need a drink! Nice kept cider., far better than the Weatherspoons 5 mins walk away, but not really worth the walk!
