Where to eat Fusion food in Porto: The Best Restaurants and Bars

September 14, 2019 Leida Jutras

Find out what Fusion restaurants to try in Porto. The town that gave the country (and port wine) its very name, Porto is Portugal’s second-largest metropolis after Lisbon. Sometimes called Oporto, it's an age-old city that has one foot firmly in the industrial present. The old town, centered at Ribeira, was built on the hills overlooking the Douro River, and today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 14th-century São Francisco church is a main attraction, as are the local port wine cellars, mostly located across the river at Vila Nova de Gaia.

We stumbled across this restaurant whilst exploring Porto on our first evening! It looked full so we looked it up later that evening and reserved a table for the following evening! And what a treat! The team are passionate about what they do and that really shines through in everything they do from the quality and taste, to presentation and service! Our waiter was great, really informative in recommending which dishes to have and how many!We tried the beef tartare (both for the first time) and it was delicious! Then we enjoyed the shrimp with cuttlefish risotto... wow, flavours were just amazing. And if that wasn’t enough we then had the Hump steak.... so fantastic. The only disappointment was that we had no room for dessert!!!Definitely would recommend this restaurant if you visit Porto!Hello tina1h,We were very pleased with your feedback!!We look forward to a next visit.Thank you.

Upon overhearing a barista telling a colleague that the batch he had brewed "lacked complexity" there were two potential outcomes: (1) The person was obnoxious and the coffee would not live up to the great expectations; or (2) The coffee would be excellent. Thankfully, it was the latter. As a coffee shop (first and foremost) that sells breakfast and lunch bites, it is great. The coffee is of a high standard and they roast their beans on premises, which is a testament to how seriously they take the art form. The food menu is an eclectic mix of sweet and savory, offering everything from granola to empanadas (something for everyone and everything was good). The only complaint I had is that the coffee cups for cold brew take away were too small -- the coffee was excellent, but I could have consumed at least three of them.Thank you very much for the review and the kind words. In the meantime we have upgraded our take away size cups so thank you for the feedback! See you soon.

The second we stepped in the door we were impressed with the fantastic service - the owner ran up the street to return a diner’s forgotten umbrella, then seated us without a reservation, no problem! After the wonderful dishes and genuine, caring and knowledgeable service, we were so impressed and hope to come back in a few nights. Get the house salad, the veal with pepper cream sauce, and carbonara - highly recommend. Can’t decide which was better: the food or the service!
