Where to eat Fusion food in Azores: The Best Restaurants and Bars

February 2, 2020 Matilde Konrad

Find out what Fusion restaurants to try in Azores. The nine islands that make up the Azores are in fact the peaks of some of the world's tallest mountains, reaching from deep beneath the Atlantic. The once-uninhabited, volcanic archipelago now hosts thousands of tourists every year who flock to the islands for sun, sand and verdant mountain scenery. From the beaches of Praia da Vitoria to the bustling marina of Horta, to the bubbling volcanic ground "ovens" of Furnas, these islands offer unparalleled--and unusual--adventures to discover.

Friends booked this and we had no idea when we arrived that it was Japanese. Really Japanese "tapas" with an Azorean FlareWe ordered wine (Fitapreta white which was a perfect slight wine) and then dove in for the appetizers. We shared a family of five adults 5 appetizers and really could not decide which was best! I think we settled on the shrimp and the eggplant. Devoured with defensive eating! Off to the main courses and the whitefish was a big hit and the chicken Stir fry while sounding boring was perfectly prepared. Food was fresh and timely and wonderfulAmbience was open and airy and smallReservations are a mustDon't miss this150E for five with lots of drinks!

We had a very lovely dinner at Tasquinha Vieira, where we had made a 9 PM reservation a few days earlier. This is a small upscale restaurant where reservations are essential. We shared the very tasty beef carpaccio as a starter. My husband had the tuna manicotti and I had the parrot fish which came with some very good veg. Dessert was a delicious panna cotta, with some espresso poured over it and a crisp crumble to add. With a couple of glasses of white wine and some mineral water, the bill came to 64 euros. Very fair for the quality of the food and excellent service.

Tried to get in the night before and could not, so came at 7 pm and got a table. Glad we came back. The coconut fish was super and the grilled octopus delicious. Did not have any appetizers. Service was great. Would recommend.

Saw this restaurant recommended in several travel blogs and I’d definitely add my approval. Delicious food, traditional ingredients, lovely wine (even though green wine isn’t actually green it tastes great!) and most of all amazing service! The waitress was so helpful and cheery even when there was a slight mistake in one of the orders. Yum!
