Michael Lachowitz and his team have created an amazing dining experience that satisfied the palate in every conceivable way. The 12 course meal included rabbit, foie gras, turbot, squab, duck, caviar, asparagus, pea soup, and other gourmet samples--all in a wonderful melange of flavors and preparations. The presentation and service was outstanding.

We have been long time customer of Michael and were apprehensive of what the new restaurants would be. We were not disappointed at all. Silencieux is the "quiet" restaurant in a small room (7 tables). the three course menu offered good choices. We ate lobster ravioli, smoked salmon, Lamb, beef and grand marnier souffle. we were pleased to see that he still offered the cheese puffs (gougeres) and chocolate truffles. All the dishes were outstanding.Good selection of wines by glass at a reasonable price.Service was good. We will certainly be back.

Since 1984, our menu pays homage to French traditions while blending comfort, culture and a touch of Californian cuisine. Each dish is made from scratch using only the finest ingredients, and we always endeavor to use products grown regionally and locally
We have been making the rounds in Winnetka and crossed over slightly into Glencoe for our first meal at Frank and Betsie's. Started off on the right foot with a reasonably priced, excellent bottle of French bordeau. We had a cold Scottish salmon appetizer, Scottish lemon sole, and panko encrusted eggplant. We were rather full, so we took dessert as takeaway: lemoncello cake and pecan torte. All superb. Lovely atmosphere and service.

Aboyer is one of three restaurant concepts that is located in this building from Chef Michael Lachowicz. It is a brasserie that is meant to be a casual dining experience, like a French pub, which should be more refined than an English pub. The food is a blend of French & American food with inspirations from around the world. The staff is very professional and is dedicated to service that is quicker and more casual. The staff is also very friendly and informative about the menu selections. As you enter the door and come to the hostess station, Aboyer is the area directly in front of you and it includes a great, contemporary bar.It was wonderful cooking for you and I look forward to seeing you again soon!Best, Michael

I was in Chicago for basketball and set up a meeting with a friend, whom I hadn't seen in over 25 years, and her husband. We've been exchanging Christmas cards and sharing travel tips since we last worked in the same building in 1991 or 1992, but this was our first meeting. I took the el to Howard and then the train into Evanston and went to St. Luke's for church. Afterwards, my friend and her husband picked me up on the corner next to the church and drove us to Jilly's Cafe. They were kind and treated so I am not sure of the exact final bill. I had a seafood Fritata, and both my hosts had omelets. Coffee refills were infrequent as well as water top offs. We were the only 3 in the restaurant besides a gentleman that I am assuming was the owner. He seemed preoccupied with other issues and gave us very minimal service. For this type of restaurant, one would expect more attentive service, especially when the only table! We were there an hour or so and enjoyed many stories of our travels, past and future, plus just good conversation. If I were choosing the restaurant for brunch in Evanston, I would go elsewhere, but at least we had a good meal and a great visit!!
