This restaurant positions itself slightly upmarket compared to the competitors in this fishermans village that hosts a remarkable large number of restaurants within its borders.Question is, does this restaurant offer enough extra in order to justify the 10 to 20 % price difference? My answer is ambivalent: yes and no. Don't get me wrong: service and food quality are very good. However, the main course is accompanied by french fries. That in itself is a too easy choise at this level, but what makes it worse is that these fries are not even home made. The quality of the kitches may justify the price level, but this restaurant has to figure out some extra;s in orde to complete the overall picture. Something like a wine degustation menu with a glass of well chosen wine to accompany each course would be a good option.
My friend and I arrived at Visamy after a hot thursday afternoon at the beach. While the restaurant was just minutes away from closing, the owner did not only welcome us; he offered us a customized meal for the same price as regular dishes, There was an optional house wine which we enjoyed almost as much as the delicious, hearthy meals themselves. We both ordered the shrimps in garlic oil, which where stir fried to the point of perfection. Because of my potato allergy, I couldn't take the standard french fries with my dish. The owner didn't have a problem with making me a nice big salad with a samphire side dish instead. In short: wonderful service, good prices and excellent meals. I am sure to visit Visamy again when I'm in Vlissingen this summer.

Ons restaurant ligt in het bruisende hart van de Middelburgse binnenstad en behoort tot een select gezelschap van rijksmonumenten. Wij werken met uiterst verse producten die veelal van biologische afkomst zijn. Wij brengen u mooie verrassende gerechten me
Exploring Middelburg we decided to follow TA recommendations and try the Gespleten Arent. We were not disappointed. We arrived about 10 min before their official opening time (6:00pm) but were welcomed inside anyway. We started with a cava/ginger beer aperitif (I was sold at "ginger beer") along with several amuses. We decided on the 3 course menu salomon/beef/lychee. We also asked if, instead of the full wine arrangement, we could have half glasses of the appropriate wine with the first & second courses - again no problem. The food was great. Interesting twists on the base ingredient of each course - tasty, very well made and presented while not pretentious. Portion size appropriate for fine dining.Service was attentive, friendly but unobtrusive. Professional. All in all a memorable meal for 2 for EUR 55 pp incl drinks and a tip.Good value we thought. We'll be back.

Waterfront is a typical Dutch restaurant located at the Boulevard of Vlissingen. Literally at the waterfront. The menu has standard fare for Dutch restaurants: satey with peanut sauce, schnitzels, some steaks, fish and of course fresh mussels. The schnitzel was ok and the mussels were great. The view is awesome across the Westerschelde all the way to Breskens.

Fantastic atmosphere during the "Mosselfeesten", absolute must-go when in Middelburg in the end of July. The "mosselwok" is definitely one of the best mussels I have ever come to eat. Not even mentioning the party afterwards in the evening, where I ended up in the cozy rooms, which are attached to the restaurant. Great brasserie with an edge in one of the buzzing streets of Middelburg!

A gastronomic restaurant near the harbour of Breskens. Minimalistic interior, expect lots of seafood and local products. All tables have a stunning view over the marina and the "Westerschelde"
We've visited Spetters more than a dozen times now, and never experienced any disappointment. You get plates that are (luckily) not too heavy on the stomach, but always combine wonderful flavours with local ingredients. The place has been redesigned recently, with more light colours, and continues to offer a splendid view on the yachting harbour of Breskens. Don't rely on the website menu too much: it's not updated that often. That said, it would be nicer if the menu changed every month or so (in stead of every 3 months or even less frequently): our "dozen times" would have become "several dozen times"...
