Reviews on French food in Vientiane, Vientiane Prefecture, Laos. Vientiane is the capital and largest city in Laos. Located on the banks of the Mekong River, Vientiane is a city steeped in legend and history. The city is the home of the massive gilded stupa, Pha That Luang, a national symbol of Laos. The streets are lined with trees, French colonial buildings, street markets, Buddhist temples, and noodle shops. Just outside the city is Buddha Park, a garden littered with over 200 cement sculptures depicting the gods and monsters of Buddhist and Hindu myth.

La Signature Restaurant is located above the lobby of Ansara Hotel. French fine dining carte for dinner, elegant set up, great views and extensive wine selection. Light dishes selection for lunch with 2 set menus on offer at 8$ and 14$ Free wifi
Their menu offers mainly Western cuisine, but whatever you choose, the food is delicious. They also have a wide range of wines to accompany whatever meal you order. Al fresco dining is especially popular at this place, so an advance reservation is a must.

Great atmosphere, wonderful classy service, great drink specials, but let's face it, it's about the food.I give full marks on every component. The lamb was superb, but they served it on a bed of Smokey, roasted, then sauteed mushrooms that were to die for, served it with a peppery salad of lambs lettuce and ridicchio wow, drizzled a thick turmeric based roux decoratively across the plate and added sides of rich gravy and the most spectacular potatoes au gratine ~ cheesey, rich with a base of sauteed veg that set it off as so unique ~ wow.And then the starter, a goat cheese stuffed spring roll to die for, infused with turmeric and more. Just so special.Full marks team, I may in fact return tomorrow, certainly again before we leave town.

Late lunch here and it was truly worth the wait. The Jules savoury gallete and was delicious, cooked to perfection, whilst the Salted Caramel Butter crepe was unbelievable ...and disappeared in record time. Had some refreshing cider too. Service excellent. Well worth a visit ~ we shall definitely be back! Thank you!

The chef used to run Chez Philippe and Le central in Vientiane.
Enjoyed a great meal at Bistro 22. It is typically French, with white tablecloths and authentic French cooking. Between two of us we shared the Camembert and pear starter - divine! It was quite large though and very rich so would recommend sharing. Our mains were the salmon with sweet potato and the duck with potato gratin. The salmon was cooked perfectly, although I would have liked more sweet potato. I asked for the vanilla sauce on the side and I'm glad I did, as the duck arrived covered in sauce. The duck was also cooked perfectly but parts of the potato gratin were a little undercooked. Delicious, but a very rich dish. For dessert we shared the molten chocolate cake - exquisite and delicious. The ginger ice cream was very strong, I liked it but if you don't love ginger, it might be a bit much. As it was low season when we visited there was only one other table of customers so we didn't find that the service was a problem. There seemed to be lots of staff around and they were very helpful, and mostly attentive. It was our most expensive meal during our stay in Laos but well worth it!

La Cave Des Chateaux Restaurant is a French fusion restaurant, located in the center of the flourishing Vientiane Capital. First opened in 1998, we are proud to be one of the first restaurants to have ever opened in the beautiful Lao Oasis. We welcome you
The whole experience was pleassant- linen napkins, chilled carafe of wine in an ice bucket, beautiful baguette, European decor, and staff who know their stuff. Food was a nice change though by no means memorable. $12 US for three course dinner, and $12 for a carafe of French white wine. Well worth it.

My husband declared the duck breast the best he has ever had - perfectly pink and delicious sauce. The lamb laap was also great fresh tasty. Portions are large the starter of ceviche could have been shared by two people. A little more expensive than some restaurants but worth it. Near Lao poet hotel if you need to get a taxi. Friendly service too. Just go you wonât regret it.

The food choice is truly French, and the service is very friendly. Be there early because they have only roughly 8 tables inside and 4 tables outside, which quickly fill up. And maybe you want to sit inside because the restaurant is located on a busy road.

This small, French owned restaurant served us some of the best meals of our trip to Laos and Vietnam. The menu is small, but the attention to detail is huge. We loved the roasted duck so much that we went back to this restaurant twice during a three night stay in Vientiane. We enjoyed great French red wine and the price for dinner and wine was very reasonable. The restaurant is steps away from the Ansara Hotel.
