Het Wapen van Kattuk

The restaurant is close to the pedestrian shopping area of Katwijk. It is beautifully decorated and looks very cosy from the outside. We’ve been there on a Friday night around 7pm and would definitely recommend to book a table in advance, every table was occupied. We started off with some very nice, fresh bread with an olive tapenade and herb butter. After that we had 2 appetizers (tuna sashimi and prawns cocktail) and two mains (the grilled tuna and the salmon au gratin), along we ordered two craft beers from their quite extensive beer menu. The tuna in both dishes was of very good quality, the sauces accompanied it well. The prawns were fresh, but tastewise the dish offered nothing special, same with the salmon, which was quite heavily topped with a sauce hollandaise. Unfortunately the greens in the dish disappeared somewhat in the sauce. The waiter was quite taken with the two female guests on the next table, so our service came a bit short, but he was attentive enough not to complain anyway. The whole meal came to 90 EUR, which we found was slightly expensive for what we got.

Great wines & food, excellent service. We were a large party of 25, and serving so many the same menu simultanously is always challenging for a gourmet kitchen, but the Fitzgerald team pulled that off with onøy a few small glitches; a piece of meat not as tender as you could expect, and some vegetables that should have been replaced. However, that is excuceable with such a large group, and I would love to come back with a small party to really enjoy other options on the menu. Dear Tom, thank you for your kind review. Serving a large party is a challenge indeed, but we like to embrace it. All the best and hope to welcome you next time!

We visited The Erwtenpeller Bistro on the evening of Valentine's Day withjust the two of us. We were received at the door. The decor was warm / cozy with a gas fireplace through which one can see the other part of the restaurant. All tables are arranged so that you can always look out with a view at the busy rivers Merwede, North and Oude Maascoming together and the skyline of the historic city of Dordrecht. The dining experience is beyond that of what you'd normally expect from a bistro. My husband opted for the 3 course Valentine menu (30 euros) and I made my choice from the "normal" three-course menu (34 euros). Possibly we could choose 4 courses. We got an appetizer and fresh bread beforehand. The signs were put up tasteful. The fries were fabulously tasty and there was also a salad. The meat super tender (veal rib-eye and sirloin from the Valentine's menu). Really mature flavor. If I can still give something of criticism: the dessert was very tasty, but for a bistro it may in my opinion have more volume. And one of the waitresses was a bit unsure and uncomfortable about. We assume that it will be fine, because it seems to us inspiring to work in such a fine restaurant. We definitely come back and take over other people it!

We were looking for somewhere a bit special to celebrate our wedding anniversary and decided on Le Vieux Jean. This review is easy: everything was perfect: food, wine and service. We cannot recommend this place highly enough and would always come back if ever we were in Delft again. There were so many items on the menu that we would like to have tried. Reserving a table to avoid disappointment is advised.

6@24, referring to the birthdays of the manager and her chef, offers amazingly good food, served in very ambitious recipes and when a la carte copious, dishes. Very well trained team, excellent executed dishes, based on amazingly brilliantly composed dishes. Had twice the wild oysters from Texel, overly delicious, beating the Gillardaud standard. But also the ris de veau, the Anjou pigeon , and the loupe de mer were all surprising dishes. I am convinced all dishes will prove to be perfect, as were the amuses. Solid quality of wines, with some interesting odd wines. All affordable wines were a bit young, but well served by the manager.Happy to be back here often and further test the chef!

Water and coffee was complimentary which really gave an overall feeling of exemplary service. Food fantastic and service great and price reasonable. What more can you ask for!Definitely will be going back

Ich have been here auf few years before and they have kept und their Level in anderen touristic environment where the temptation is big to lower your colours to what everybody else is doing there. They offer meals (you choose the number of courses) and the composition is vergessen sophisticated, down to the desserts. Fish, very good choices of meat going with veggies in a very modern and nice way. The advice on the Wine was very helpful, as my choice on the house wine was not to my taste. The aussie replacement was first category.

We enjoyed a dinner here that was delicious, Michelin star worthy. Lost track but around 8-9 courses with tasty and beautiful looking dishes, using flowers and herbs. The restaurant is run by a young, very hardworking couple who make you feel very welcome. Recently redecorated the place with nice furniture.

The restaurant is in a narrow shopping street, in a well maintained and nicely lighted spacious vintage house. Parking is usually not a problem. Furniture is comfortable, also after a long sit. The enthusiasm of the staff and chef is off the scale. There is no printed menu I am aware of. The chef takes orders and folds diet restrictions into what he has in mind. I have not seen a wine chart. All wines I have had were non-french, a startling exclusion that may be explained by the large role set for the wine supplier, because the sommelier knows her business. Consequently, there is room for improvement, though I should mention that the marriage of the Italian orange wine was original, creative and a huge success, not deserving my misgivings before I tasted the wine. The meal was simply amazing. Every dish was exquisitely presented and well composed. Courses are small, but largely sufficient taken together. The signature bisque was a delight by itself, but IMO the main dish was even better: a symphony of onion preparations with delightful slices of meat, that allowed a number of onion-meat combinations with subtle or not so subtle taste differences. We were there on the last day the jubilee menu was offered. This must be one of the best restaurants in the country. Go there before Michelin discovers it at last. ;-)
