This small restaurant is on the main road through Saint-Leonard-des-Bois. There is easy parking a few hundred metres away (outside the church). The restaurant is opposite a large pizzeria and we chose La Fourchette because we had tried pizza the night before (they are everywhere round here) and we wanted something more local and of quality. La Fourchette did not disappoint. We were lucky to get a table because the restaurant is small (only a few tables) and it is clearly popular with the locals which is always a good sign. The chef appeared to be in charge and met us when we entered (it is open plan and he was cooking everything himself). The only other person was a waiter who was attentive and helpful although the chef kept coming round the tables to chat to friends and make sure everyone was ok. There were only really two main courses you could get - fish or beef. We had one of each. They were both excellent. We had dessert and again this did not disappoint. We expected a heavy bill because this was really a very good restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised that it was very reasonable. The chef was on hand to bid us a good night when we left (he was outside chatting to another local).Good food, a nice restaurant and a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Very reasonably priced traditional restaurant. Frogs' legs are usually on the menu and pretty good. I also had an enjoyable snail and scrambled egg starter. All meat dishes were delicious and correctly cooked. Minuses would be for undercooked frites and substituting the patisserie dessert without owning up to it. It was still nice but usually better to be honest if you've run out of something. Also, as another reviewer mentions, the chef perhaps should keep some of his opinions to himself. However, I would return as the food was overall excellent value for the price and the environment is nice with outdoor seating etc.

We enjoyed a lunch here on a quiet Wednesday in September. We order two omelettes, which were served with chips and a dressed side salad. We also ordered two coffees and an orangina â our bill of about 23 Euros was good value for money. Portions were large, the restaurant and toilets were clean, and service was friendly and efficient. Everyone else seemed happy with their meals, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Real French workers' caff, including much tattouage and a guy picking his back teeth with a steak knife. But if you want great food chez le people this is the place. The starters bar is fantastic: terrine; escargots, salads. Main courses, just a piece of meat with a bit of sauce but super tasty. Good sweets too. Service by youngsters with great élan. Totally unpretentious and wonderful. What France used to be famous for.

Restaurant correct, le cadre est sympa. Par contre un peu plus cher que les restaurants d'à côté pour le même genre de prestation.

We stopped here for an evening meal. We were able to get a table without having a reservation although the restaurant was becoming busy while we were eating. It is a popular venue. There are a choice of pizzas at reasonable prices. They were quickly served. They were nice.

This place served us a fantastic lunch today. All dishes were part of standard lunch offer. The starter was lightly smoked herring and clear potato-sallad. Just perfect balance between acid, smoke and dijon-mustard. Main dish was pork provencale with pasta. The pork had cooked for loong time which made the meat very tender and the sauce super tasty. As dessert a true home made creme brulé with real vanilla and crisp lid of sugar. 14 euro for such a well cooked meal is nothing else than a bargain! Thanks!!
