This is my sixth visit and Have been made very welcome on all visits. The food is excellent and the choice is always good and nothing is to much for Claire the chef she is always available to make sure everything is perfect I have has some amazing deserts. But my favourite was basil ice cream with my mixed tomatoes starter OMG it was a-m-a-z-I-n-g.

Insolite opened June 2017. It is a creperie which serves delicious savoury Galettes, sweet crepes as well as a menu du jour. We have eaten there 4 times and each time had a different meal the crepes/galettes are made to order and are delicious. the choice of galettes on offer includes one with goats cheese and honey which is so tasty. Also they have ice cream made from Goats Milk. The goat's cheese and milk are produced locally only 2km from Abjat at La Vigeonie. We love going because it is a lovely walk from our house through the woods.

Lovely terrace in a gorgeous small village.Lunch menu with two choices for each of entree, main and dessert. Coffee included. The owners are English but the food is classic French. Exceptionally well cooked, flavoured and presented.Service is faultless from the English owner. The restaurant was busy but there was no waiting.E16.00 for the three courses plus coffee. Drinks are extra. Ring ahead to check opening hours outside the holiday season. Definitely recommended.

This restaurant is our favorites one, everytime we went back to our village in Brouchaud to take a rest in our Little house. Traditional cuisines, so from apero (wine of the house really nice and foie gras home made - main menu (really nice local white fish) or other main menu really nice too - desert and coffee. it is around 50 - 60 Euro for 2 persons. We always there in between our mountain bike treck or just for lunch and dinner with our parent. nice place out side and inside, friendly atmosphere with family owner.... really pleasant place.

After much anticipation of Samantha and Richards return to the village we managed to secure a table at Rumeurs Bistro. Great to see a menu put together based on quality not quantity of options. From entrèe to dessert the food was cooked to perfection. Our table of five had simply the best nights meal in a long time in a lovely atmosphere. Another thumbs up is the offer of a special deal on wine on each table which we gladly took up and again we were not disappointed. Great service from Charlie too!! We cannot recommend this Bistro highly enough and we have already penned in our next visit when we return in June. Thanks for a great night and coming home!!Thank you so much. Iâm all emotional now!!

We stayed for two weeks in August with our two children in our touring caravan, the campsite was lovely and in beautiful countryside, the pools were kept clean and tidy and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The only downside was the weather was not great (no fault of the sites obviously) and the proximity from the motorway. All in all a fabulous holiday and would return again. Thank you

We visited for lunch with our local car club. It looks mediocre from the outside but inside has been beautifully updated with style and then you walk through to a lovely shaded terrace out the back. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent we all had the menu du jour and is was spot on. Would definitely make the journey to visit again.

The beach at the lake is a great place if youâre on holiday in the area. We booked this restaurant for a big family lunch and it was great.Very good menu du jour plus huge pizzas, salads and steaks. We enjoyed the wine too. Great service and they were lovely with the kids too. Highly recommended.

The picture on the hotel's website are all pretty fair examples of what we were presented with, in a room that was decorated in a style that resembled a cross between a tart's boudoir, a 1970's disco and an explosion in the Dulux shop's reject paint department. We half expected someone from the Monty Python or The Two Ronnies production team to burst in... After the initial visual shocks of entering the room through the secondary restaurant area (itself decorated in horribly clashing colours of leatherette and felt velour with pictures of cows in fields on the walls), we chose the mid range 'prix fixe' (â¬41 per head) menu, we were presented with a kir with a pink flower floating in it (of course daaaahhhhling), which apparently 'benefitted' from the addition of some sort of home made walnut syrup to white wine...mmmmThe 'amuse bouchée' followed which included 4 little 'delights' that were created by Hyacinth Bouquet for an evening soirée she had hosted for the local ladies tennis and bridge clubs. Interesting mixtures of cheese, lemon, nut purée, macaroon and a few other unidentifiable ingredients. Not satisfied with these, there then followed with a small bowl of 'puréed artichoke with 'reduced anchovy jus' (err?), and a small glass pot (think empty Danone creme caramel pot', half filled with a purée of cauliflower 'infused' with some kind of white fish stew with a blob of creamy something on top. Maxine's summary was 'a bit wallpaper pastery' for me...Taking the starters, mains and desserts together rather than individually, there were some common themes throughout. A vivid green, mint gel was dribbled around several of the serving plates (think something suitable for Dame Edna Everage's evening get together for Elton John, Danny La Rue, Liberace and Gianni Versace), along with a car crash of so many non-complementary elements, you had to question whether the chefs were cooking and playing up in the dark wearing blindfolds with one hand tied behind their backs....One dish numbered 17 separate elements constituting an interesting 'Masterchef type challenge' to all our foodie friends - please create a plate of food with ALL the following ingredients: lettuce, a single overlooked Brussels sprout, a piece of over cooked grey cauliflower, scallops with roe, artichoke purée, a single tinned carrot, 2 broad beans (shelled and skinned), reduced liquid mint gel, mashed potato, mashed sweet potato, a cross between a caper and a tomato (pickled), half a flat bean cut into 2 small pieces, mini gelled balls of vinegar and oil, small cubes of 2 or 3 'vegetables' of your choice (must be unidentifiable in the final dish) and risotto rice... this 'restaurant' managed it so it is possible...!I could go on, but save it to say, there were many such elements in various dishes pushed to the side uneaten...There are redeeming features of this establishment - apparently it has a nice garden (we went in the evening so can't confirm this), our (1 glass each) wine was drinkable and a chocolate bombe thingy was very nice. Avoid at all costs unless you want a laugh, have more money than sense (some of these dishes carried supplementary costs!), are looking for inspiration for a situation comedy set in a village French restaurant that has long since past it's glory days (apparently it was pretty good once upon a time), and you have such a bad head cold that you can't taste anything you are eating (wearing a blindfold whilst eating might help?)PS - Forgot to mention that every dish came with a (wilted) edible flower.
