The Hotel with restaurant Laborderie, at the heart of the golden triangle (Montignac, Sarlat, Eyzies de Tayac) is a family establishment since 1920 when reigns a friendly atmosphere, in a haven of peace.
Seven of us were staying at the luxurious nearby Combe Claire and catered for ourselves every night except two, when we succumbed to the fabulous food, service and atmosphere at this superb village hotel. The service was polite, discrete and tolerant of our rather boisterous party. There was a full house each time, we pre-booked and just managed to sneak in, but the food was superb and for â¬29 the three-course menu terroir was great value.Good local wine selection too, which of course we applied the 'when in Rome' principle to.Make sure you book to avoid disappointment - highly recommended.

This restaurant is located 5 km north of Sarlat and well worth the drive. It is on a major road and easy to find. After eating duck and foie gras for the past few days and after looking at the many similar menus in the old town, we decided to try something different and are so happy we did. Amazing meal: I donât like eggplant but his amuse bouche of aubergine âpearlsâ with pesto, mozzarella, balsamic was a wonderful combination of flavours. The seafood âsurpriseâ was an artfully plated platter of smoked salmon, perfectly cooked scallops, and seafood tartare with fish roe. The beef with bordelaise sauce was so good my husband wanted to lick the plate. We both thought the beef was better than the beef we recently had at a one star Michelin restaurant a few days ago. My chestnut cream dessert was excellent. The dinner menu (3 courses) for 29E each is an incredible value for this caliber of cooking. The waiter was excellent. The chef was welcoming, friendly, approachable and even showed us his array of specialty spices used to create his dishes. This is a must-do if you are in Sarlat!

This is one of the best places in the area for a simple meal with family or friends. It has a justifiably popular bar as well, and a lovely terrace for outdoor - but sheltered - eating, weather permitting. The staff are very friendly and professional.

You really get what you can expect from this type of restaurants (ferme auberge): good quality, locally produced food. No original dishes but straightforward classical local dishes. We had a duck liver and a civet of duck, accompanied by âpommes Sarladaisesâ. No big wine list of mostly local wines (good but not exceptional).Staff was correct and friendly.

We were staying at a gite barely a hundred metres away and couldn't believe that a place this good was so close. We booked dinner for a large group and it could not have gone smoother. With lovely traditional simple yet well executed dishes, very efficient service and a pretty good price too. The six course 26 euro menu looks great value but we opted for the three courses at 22 and glad we did as the portions are generous. This place has rooms and also a lovely Terrace on warmer nights. It's popular at weekends so book. The magret and confit carnations were top notch. As were the deserts.

Michelin Star incoming. Been to Michelin starred restaurants nowhere near this level on flavour.Add this to a truly stunning setting and superb service.Beautiful, as was the presentation of every dish. This chef is going to the very top.One of the most fabulous meals Iâve ever enjoyed. I went for the 89 Euro Gastronomic menu, wife went with 44 Euro menu and also a 23 Euro menu available so fully inclusive. Both menus wowed every single dish on presentation and more importantly flavour.Subtle delightful flavours alongside hidden BOOM flavours that surprised and delighted.Everything on the plate was there for a reason and had been really thought about which I love. The Chef incorporated non local but top quality ingredients (langoustine, pigeon, lobster) with the the best ingredients of the region (Fois Gras, nuts in a nut sauce to die for) to make a marriage made in heaven.A genius at work. Someone who loves what they do. You felt the thought and love heâd put into every dish. The only slight negative in my opinion is in regards the wine. A bit of improvement and this place has nailed it.The quality of the wine was really excellent, as was the knowledge of the lovely Sommelier Frederic, but I feel heâs a star in the making but still a bit inexperienced and could do with a bit of advice from a wiser head. Why? I feel food of this quality needs a matching wine menu per course to match the Chefs genius. Also, as there was no matching wines, we put our trust in the hands of the Somellier with the simple request of a bottle of red and bottle of white you think matches the menu.I have no complaints regards the quality of the wine he chose or the superb service , but I think if he chooses a red of 40 Euros then if the white is 120 Euros he should check if thatâs ok before opening.Superb wine but a bit naughty or naive in my opinion.Donât be put off, as drinks are the same as all other local restaurants and reasonably priced quality wines are available. For me, this is an absolute MUST visit whilst this chef is in situ. Many thanks for your visit and for this detailed review. Be sure we will take your remarks in account. We are really glad you enjoyed your meal and we hope to see you here again soon.

Very nice menu with farm's duck and vegetables. 4 menus options starting at 15⬠plus 'à lá carte' options. All with starters, main course and dessert. We had the menu 'Tradition' plus a 'duo de foie gras' to share and taste this farm's foie gras. Every options were very good and tasty. Excellent crème brûlée.Kind and quick service.

We sensed discomfort as soon as we arrived. The woman at the front desk did not take time to welcome us or show us to our seats; and she merely mumbled that what they serve is salad, pizza, and desert. We stood in the outdoor dining area asking waiters about seating in the shade. They tried to help, and no shaded table opened up. Finally a table for six opened up. The woman came in and roughly told us we couldnât sit there, so we asked about a table for four that she had just cleaned. She did not respond to our saying we needed shade and would gladly move to the more shaded table for four since one of us has a skin condition. We waited, and help never arrived. So after ten minutes, we just left. Some other reviewer commented about the âacueilâ so... This is a cute place on the river and we know locals who have had good meals here. Management should work on making it welcoming.
