Nice place to discover typical food made of local ingredients, nice and friendly but bring your mousquito repelant! The place is lost in the middle of nowhere, even the sign is barely visible. The restaurant is actually a big hutt for maximum 20 guestsWe had a fish bougna (gniam, tarot, white fish, sweet potatoes ; cooked in coconut into leaves in a hole with hot stones).Absolutely delicious, very generous too comparedto what we had in Isle of Pines. Our hosts were nice and helpfull, certainly a good place to have a lunch in the melanesian way.

We arrived around 12:45pm with my two children and 3 adults but there was a big table already sitted that had already ordered. After waiting for about 20min a waitress came not very welcoming. We asked for sandwiches as there were 2 types written on their board but sharply she told us that they had no bread left. When I asked if she could do something simple and small for my children she told me that I could get a steak but it was 2900 in comparison with the sandwiches that were 500XPF. She didn't try to accommodate us and appeared to be annoyed by us as they were busy enough. We left without any food and ended up eating at the soleil levant which was very nice and friendly.

The food was good, but with little variation and choice. Breakfast choices often ran out early and weren't rapidly replenished. Main meals were rather expensive (which unfortunately is the norm in New Caledonia), and the menu didn't alter form day to day. The food that was available was tasty.Unfortunately, to get a table on the beach-side patio meant putting up with smokers. Smoking was very common, and with open doors - it was hard to find a table that was not affected by cigarette smoke.Dear, ArthurC448We thank you for your comment. We are glad to hear that you liked our dishes.Yes, New Caledonia is quite expensive country so we have to adapt to manage the hotel. We've changed our menu completely at the end of December. Chef offers a lot of choice now.We are so sorry about smoking problem. We will try to find a solution for the guest who do not smoke so that all of our guest enjoy the meal.We hope you coming back again to find our beautiful beach and island.Kind regards,Masako IWAMOTO

Best food on Ouvea by far. Not expensive. Had great big coconut crab and fantastic chocolate dessert out on the terrasse hearing the waves.
