Left Bank is an authentic Parisian-style brasserie located in the historic Blue Rock Inn in charming downtown Larkspur. Built in 1895 during the railroad era, The Blue Rock Inn was a popular weekend destination for San Franciscans to come dance and picnic
The food was decent but the service was just wrong. Our salads were brought with our entrees and when we asked why they served them together, the curt response was âwe didnât realize you wanted them separatelyâ. Our wine order was mixed up twice due to a lack of focus on the part of the waiter. I could continue but suffice it to say that nothing was admirable about the service. My guess is that the kitchen is not well organized either.

Restaurant experience with annoying ups & downs. Salads, wine and bread were tasty. Started off well enough. Went downhill quickly. Unremarkable bouillabaisse in somewhat watery tomato broth. Bland fish was fine, but not mouth watering. Duck dinner consisted of one leg, greasy meat, presented on bed of beans which didn't compliment flavors. Decided not to order after dinner drinks, latte, & dessert when the host sat another couple immediately next to us in an empty restaurant. We arrived with reservation at 5 pm, and seated in far corner of restaurant. We could hear their entire conversation. The lack of a consistent, or interested wait staff finally would make us never return. It took 3 attempts to receive the correct bill. We were charged double when the bill was first presented. We were told by 2 different waiters, who brought the check, that they were not our original waiter. We paid cash, and left.
Gravity Tavern is a classic American Tavern featuring the highest quality ingredients and a regularly changing menu. Gravity features a full bar with many barrel aged bottled cocktails.
Although recently opened, and still getting out some of the kinks, Gravity Tavern offers a limited but good variety of menu options from fish to chicken to steak to a great burger and a unique lobster roll. Staff was genial and accommodating. Acoustics need some improvement as the noise level can be a bit overbearing while eating. Pricing is on the higher side, but the quality of the food was very good. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Lara, who was very interested in our experience. When all the not unexpected kinks are smoothed out, Gravity Tavern will be a "go-to" place for dinner in downtown Mill Valley.
