Four of us stopped here for a lunch formule recently. It is a Euro Routiers recommended restaurant and was very full with workmen. We were seated straight away. The daily formule was â¬12 each, which included a carafe of wine - well we had two, as two of us wnated rose and two wnated red, so excellent value. We each had a beer to start at â¬2.60 each, and the total bill came to â¬58.40 for the four of us. The starter was a help-yourself buffet - all fresh and beautifully presented, and all our main courses were very good and freshly cooked..

Les Cathédrales de la Saulaie is actually a "Troglodyte restaurant " Completely underground in a cathederal sized cave carved out hundreds of years ago to use the rock for building. Neither cold nor damp but very comfortable it provides an unusaul setting for lunch with a great ambience. The food is traditional local fare and just one menu.Stuffed mushrooms (With Flatbreads) , Rillettes and farm salt butter (With Flatbreads),Grillade de Carrier ( belly pork, black pudding and Duck) served with haricots in a great sauce and salad, and you've guessed and Flatbreads, then cheese followed by Choux pastry puffs sttuffed with cream.,coffee included and Red wine in great quantity if you wish. The little flatbreads are a local speciality cooked in a wood oven in the restaurant. They constantly arrive at your table 30 seconds after leaving the oven and are delicious. At 28.00 euros a head all in, including a local aperatif) it is good value and a unique experienceWell worth a visit and in the heart of a good wine region so why are you not already on your way!!!

Ate here once in summer 2017 after THREE failed attempts when it wasn't open. This year on 16th August despite advertising opening hours of 19-21h it was closed - probably best to call them before going up Escalier St Pierre and in any event the pizze au feu de bois at Pizza Show takeaway is better ;-)

This restaurant, right in the heart of the town offers a unique experience. You are in a cave and will have a set menue. Star of the menue is bread. Baked in an open fire right in the restaurant. They serve typical local food and wine as much as you want. Price very reasonable and staff helpful and friendly.

May Day isa very popular holiday in France and one in which most restaurants are shut down and the ones that are open are packed. With the help of La Fourchette and our Michelin Road Atlas, we estimated where we would be in transit and booked a table at this very congenial hotel-restaurant. In the U.S.A. I usually avoid hotel restaurants unless the city is under siege. In France, they can be very fine choices patronized by even more locals than transients. The Bienvenue certainly is welcoming, a charming and serious culinary way station on the outskirts of a small historical town. It has been our experience that Logis Hotels, independent and usually characterful, are often a place with a decent kitchen and a favorable relationship with their town or region. This restaurant, however, has a very serious and talented chef and a dedicated wait staff. The restaurant was packed on the holiday and deservedly so. The cooking, plating, wine list and overall service confirm that this is a venue with genuine excellence. We chose fish dishes, which were superb. It was quite clear that plenty of beef was also going to neighboring tables and bringing much satisfaction to other diners. For the level of sophistication, gracious service and attractive ambiance, the prices were very fair. We chose the restaurant because it suited our travel plans. Now that we know how good it is, we would consider it a culinary destination as well. While we did not thoroughly appraise the attached three star hotel, it would make a very good stopover while visiting nearby chateaux and vineyards.

For those who haven't read past reviews it helps to know what to expect from this divine restaurant. It's is one set menu including wine so once you are seated everything just gets served without consultation. It has a distinct family feel and it really does make for an original experience. We loved the food. The trio of mushrooms were fantastic. The pork pate ok and the duck cassoulet very wholesome although not enough meat for my carnivorous husband. Also loved the crime brûlée but most of all we loved the wonderful interior and atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Annual closing for the winter - Reopening in March 2020 At the heart of the medieval city, the Auberge des Isles enjoys an exceptional historic and bucolic frame at the crossroads of Anjou, Poitou and Touraine. The fifteenth century renovated house, opens
We had lunch here. Being at Wednesday in early October it was quiet with just one other table. There were several choices although no vegetarian dishes on the menu. The chef made me a assiette of vegetables which looked and tasted delicious. Others had the fish or veal which good but not special. For sweet course I had a chocolate nut dish whilst others had a nut cake with accompaniments.Service was good.Weâve eaten here before when the food had a wow factor which it didnât this time.

Fresh gourmet food and daily menus. Exclusively Loire wines menu (also to take-away). Catering service.
In this beautiful little village right next to the imposing church you find this pretty little restaurant that I believe is run totally by ladies. If you are seated in or ouside doesn't matter, both are very nice. The interior is charming with fun objects. The menu is limited with local produce, ecofriendly and not expensive. So are the wines. We had asparagus gaspacho which had a bit too much coriander, seems to be a favourite spice here. Then veal casserol, well prepared. We tried the bubbly and both read and white, maybe not top wines but fun and interesting. Dessert , a cake, was ok. Toilet was simple but clean. The service personal and fun. It felt maybe not like a rural authentic French restaurant but more like a place you could find in New York or Malmö in 2018. But a good place. Enjoy the visit.

Good food and good wine: here's what you get at the Bistrot de la Place! We serve fresh homemade food that you can choose off the "a la carte" menu or from our set menus. And if you're feeling peckish during the day, we also offer oysters, cured meat and
It was a nice spot in the town square. The service and prices were fine and there was a nice 3 course special. For the four of us, there were some things quite tasty and hot - the items on the special board. On the other hand, there were items that were not great - cold fish and poor quality steak. Thank you Regina for your message, we are sorry for your cold fish that we could ahave returned. Please let us know the next time if something is going wrong with any items. We hope to see you again soon.
