Didn't stay here, but drove to it from where we were staying in the hope of them still serving for a late dinner. Luckily they were and wow! Staff were great, not much english, but my school french got us by, The food was just amazing and great value. Nothing posh, just great food, deep flavours/sauces, fresh ingredients, well presented. Would definitely stay here and eat there again if back in the area,I am so sorry not being able to host you in english. Our staff has to improve their bases in English ... Hope next time you will find somebody fluent in English to help you . Thank you for your comment, it's a big help to improve .. Hope your trip in france was great. Perhaps will see you another imeBest regardsIsabelle

Good food menu and quite a decent wine menu. The restaurant lacks any kind of ambiance and is too brightly lighted. The price was a little high for the setting.

Thoroughly enjoyed a Sunday lunch with friends here. Sat on the terrace overlooking the garden. The three courses were all way above average and the cheeses were particularly noteworthy. Can't fault this restaurant.

Le Calabash is set in a small French hamlet. Alison and Sidney are both accomplished chefs of international standard and the service is personal and friendly. The restaurant / culinary school is small and cosy which includes a cookery school and accomadat
What an amazing week I had at Le Calabash with Alison and Sidney! I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. I really enjoy cooking and the week I have just spent in the French countryside improving my knowledge and skills has given me new found confidence to spend as much time as possible creating delicious meals for family and friends. The 6 day seasonal course covered an amazing array of dishes - and everything that we ate from the Le Calabash kitchen was outstanding. Highlights from the kitchen for me - the chicken fricassee, potato fondant, chocolate mousse and salted caramel ice cream, Alison's quiche, the cod with herb crust and cream sauce, Sid's unbelievably airy souffle and pretty much everything we ate at the BBQ on our final night! And the bread - how could i nearly forget that soft bread!! The whole week was so well organised - the excursions to Chatteau Chenonceau, the market in Tour and the goat cheese farm really allowed us to experience the area. I also loved my evening with Alison at the wonderful Michelin starred La Promenade. Thank you Alison and Sid for a truly amazing week - i can't wait to make macarons and cheese souffle and can only hope they turn out as well as they did in your kitchen last week. I really hope to be back again some time in the future.WOW? Thank you sooo much for a wonderful review, we are so pleased yo enjoyed your culinary journey with us here at le Calabash. Please do keep us updated on your kitchen adventures and keep in touch, we would love to hear from you.Warmest RegardsAli and Sid

The terrace is the only place to eat - the interior is fairly horrid and very hot in the summer: you will probably need to book to get a table on the terrace. The pizzas are great, although all of ours had a fair amount of burning on the edges which somewhat detracted from the taste - and we noticed that others had the same burnt edges as well. The salads are awesome, but other than that there's not much on the menu. Very family/child friendly, and for a change in France, the terrace is non-smoking, which was a real boon.Thank you very much for your review. This summer was our first summer in this new place (the restaurant opened last december). The temperature in the room was very hot and we didn't have air conditionning just few fans. We order a big one for the next summer !! :)Yes, you need to book early a table to eat on the terrace, because we have only 40 seats (20 in the no smoking area). For the egde of our pizzas it was also a consequence of the heat.. The pasta for the pizza was dry (so easy to burn) because not enough humidity on the air... everything was extreme this night. We are sorry about that. We notice that you appreciate our attitude with children :) Thanks Hope to see you again.Adeline & my staff

Small restaurant, so make a reservation! Well worth it. The menu is small (3 starters, 3 main coarses (fish, meat, no vegetarion options), 3 desserts) but all well cooked and good tastes. For the kids they made simplified smaller dishes of the same main courses.Service was quick enough. Lovely dinner!

Le restaurant vous accueille au casino ! Mets à la carte, formules et menus gourmands vous attendent tout au long de la semaine. Découvrez une cuisine élaborée avec des produits de saison et locaux. L'accès à notre établissement est réservé aux personnes
On a Monday night, off-season, it is hard to find a decent restaurant in this area which is open. We decided to finally try out the restaurant at the casino, and have no regrets whatsoever! The arrival on the casino premises is impressive, extensive and spacious parking in a well-kept park, the classic villa building, next to the casino, is inviting. This is where the restaurant is located, so no need to pass through the casino. Decor is light and modern, a lot of space between the tables, and a very warm welcome by young employees. Unfortunately there was no à la carte, we had to choose one of the menus, and surprisingly were not allowed to choose items from the various menus. I suggested we did not care about possible supplements, to no avail however, this was a strict policy! By exception we were all allowed to have goat cheese (listed on only one menu) instead of a desert. If we had not already started a bottle of wine, we would have left. Fortunately the food was of exceptional quality, very fresh and well presented fish dishes, and attentive, friendly service. The waiter promised us that the menu policy would be changed, please also change another disturbing surprise then. We were offered an amuse bouche, the waiter told me happily when I paid the bill, that I was charged the amuse bouche for 2 persons only instead of 4! We are talking about EUR 1 here for something I never ordered! All in all an excellent experience thanks to food quality and service, this restaurant just needs a bit more feeling for clients' needs!
