Bistro De Pimpernel opened its doors back in 1985. Over the years, the restaurant has grown into a true concept in Hoofddorp and the surrounding area, under the careful management of Raymond and Tanja Ruijg. The bistro is an informal French specialities r
We opted for the five course chef's surprise tasting menu. Because we had no idea what we would have, we decided on Champagne Rose which goes well with everything. The meal began with a beautiful carpaccio served over a bed of greens. The next course was a cream of white asparagus soup that was to die for. Such deep flavors and complexity! The fish course was a poached cod that was perfectly prepared. The main dish was a perfectly prepared steak- seared perfectly and rare and very tender. My husband told the waiter that veal sweetbreads were one of his favorites so the chef included a portion with his steak. Very generous. Dessert was homemade ice cream and a mocha/chocolate cake that was outstanding. I normally only appreciate very very chocolate desserts but this was a very nice surprise. All in all a memorable evening. I definitely would highly recommend in fact we are trying to get in again tonight.

This is primarily a hotel restaurant but also used by many locals. Tonight's meal was enjoyable. Starter of fish soup was excellent. Followed by Calf (veal escalopes) with mussels. Tasty but sauce slightly salty. Good portion sizes. No real complaints. If in town on business it is worth a visit but then there are other high quality restaurants nearby!

This bar is open-connected to a GrandCafe (Joseph) restaurant. The bar is a popular hang-out for locals and business people around. A decent selection of wines and beers. Never tried the cocktails myself. Can be quite crowded on friday- and saterday evenings/nights with young people. Music is louder than. Nice helpful staff. Normal Dutch prices (so its not cheap there). Its not big but have seats at bar, tables and loungers. If it is getting to crowded or noisy in the bar, just walk over and sit at a table in the restaurant. In Holland most people eat between 18-20:30 so after that time you have chance for a table. I like this place and will be here again.....
