Spotted this whilst visiting the castle at Falaise. We went in to have tea and cakes. The cakes came from the patisserie next door and were superb. The apple slice was light ,crisp and flakey. Not especially sweet.Friendly service and a very welcome break .

This was the only place to get food on a wet Sunday evening and great value. Having wandered through the streets of Falaise; there was no other option than La Licorne. The couple that owned the restaurant, were very helpful and friendly. 2 crepes Thontaine and Viroise(melting cheese, ham and egg) , very tasty and had difficulty finishing it. Room had to left for Cafe Gourmand - a wonderful candy floss ice cream, creme brulee; mini crepe. What wasn't needed on the plate was the tinned fruit cocktail. La Licorne ( Unicorn) was good value under â¬50 for 2 galettes, 2 desserts and wine

Very popular restaurant in the heart of town on the main road, staff are very good and attentive. Good food and wine menu, as you would expect from the name it is Italian with extensive pizza and pasta options I had a Calzone (the smaller size one), washed down with a couple of draft beers, whilst my wife had a ham omelette washed down with 50cl of Rose wine, meals came with bread and frites and cost less that 30 euros in total. Worth trying if you are in the area.

We went here several times under the now-retired previous proprietor, so we were a little concerned. But for no reason. The food was well prepared, cleverly constructed, Perhaps some of the flavours were a little indistinct, but we really enjoyed our meal - thank you.The little details?A frayed napkin; crumbs on the table beneth the first table-cloth which had obviously been there for a while. But we'll very happily go back. 135 euros for 4 with soft drinks.

The menus range from 20 to 50 eur. For starters we chose salmon tartar, for main course tuna and rabbit, and for dessert apple pie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate-coconut "thingy" with lychee sorbet. Salmon starter was very good, rabbit was okay, tuna was much too salty, and desserts quite good. The restaurant is quite a big hall, and interior basic. There were not many tables filled, so it was not cosy at all with so few customers. Despite the few customers, the service was extremely slow, so don't expect to have a quick bite to eat. There was only one waitress and she was serving as fast as she could, but it was still very slow. With the cheapest menu + aperitif + 2 glasses of wine each, the total price for 3 persons was 93 eur. Overall okay experience if you are not in a hurry.

Recently revisited this pretty restaurant (I actually like the decor too) and had a good quality, experience. The food was well cooked , artfully presented and the staff were reasonably efficient and welcoming. The scallops and prawns in puff pastry were an excellent starter choice and the 3 course fixed menu continued fine.I should have remembered my own previous advice and not been so extravagant with the 2 pitchers of mediocre wine @ â¬14 each .!Worth another visit though!

Stopped here en route to the ferry, and had simple but beautifully cooked meal, at excellent value. I think I ate exactly the same thing as the previous reviewer, and the chicken was delectable - crisp skin, tender flesh, delicious sauce (I would not dare call it gravy) and very buttery mash. 3 courses were 19.5 euros.

Sunday is always a bit of a hit and miss in France but the Renaissance is one of the exceptions that makes the rule. Clearly as a "tourist" most do no associate Falaise with a holiday destination rather a stop over. So it is very much a surprise to find a restaurant that is fully able to accommodate all Europeans with friendliness, and good humour. Staff were very much "on the ball" when it came to service and presentation with English spoken to good level. Food was a very good standard, and menu choice comprehensive, portions were very substantial, certainly value for money, drinks were cheaper than expected. All in all our experience of this place was very very good. The Sunday we visited suggested that this restaraunt is popular. We arrive at 12.00 and by 12.30 the eating area inside was full of patrons. I have assume that weekdays and evenings will see the place packed to the rafters.Good Food, Good Service, Good Price, Dog Friendly, English understandable, FriendlyTicks all the boxes. So if your passing through this is a "no brainier."

After reading the reviews, we booked, feeling it was probably not necessary on a cool Tuesday night. Well they were turning away folk by 8:30, so book or go early. It was a good meal - particularly the starters. We had the rillettes of fish and fried camembert. Fish and pork for mains. And crumble and cheese for pud. Good value at 23⬠for 3 courses. Relaxed and friendly ambience. Best meal of holiday so far.
