Great place to stop for lunch after disembarking from Cherbourg. Wander away from the busy square behind the cathedral to find this restaurant masquerading as a pizzeria. We had the great value set menus. I had salads de gesiers followed by veal chop the nice cream - all delicious . My wife and friend had generous lunch time salads. Owner / waitress very friendly and took time to chat to customers as husband chef did at the end. Great old school French place.

Bar, restaurant près de la cathédrale et de l'église st Pierre. La cuisine est réalisée à partir de grillades préparées à la cheminée en salle ainsi que de produits végétariens faits maison à base de produits bio. Produits locaux et régionaux. Accueil et
Anyone would think all I do is go out for lunch! However, this little place is a gem, worth going out for. Although it is small and can't hold many at a time, it is well populated by locals and the odd tourist. There are two distinct sittings, though that seems to be by common consent rather than by any house rules. The service is friendly and the staff give a warm welcome. The food is good, well cooked and reasonably priced. I was full after just the plat du jour, so no coffee or dessert, this time. The time before, I managed dessert which for the price was OK. I think it was bought in rather than home-made, but good enough.Summary; not gourmet, but good for the price.

Visited after a great trip around Coutances cathedral and was left a bit disappointed. Fixed price cheapish lunchtime menu, but neither the savoury galette nor the sweet crepe were anything special.

Nice little Creperie for a quickie bite to eat while in Coutances. Lively decoration with modern decor. Enjoyed a quickie meal of delicious crepes and local Normandy cider. It doesn't get much better! Enjoy and keep on touring. ...

A young chef and his wife work really hard to make this a truly wonderful place to eat. Great value fixed price menu at lunchtime, beautiful food, presentation and ambience. I would be able to eat here every day and not get bored!

A restaurant/small hotel which has been created from the old village girls' school in this small village in the Bocage in Normandy. New management took over in June 2011 and they are making a good job of running a restaurant for locals and visitors with several menus and a good value menu du jour. We have owned a second home in this village for over 20 years and have used this restaurant frequently for everyday meals and for special celebrations.

We've been going to Le Ratelier for over 10 years on a fairly regular basis. It always fills up at lunch time, which tells you something. The owner and staff are always welcoming and there is a cosy relaxed atmosphere. The galettes and crepes are always made to order. The menu may seem a bit limited to some people, but this is a creperie after all and there is a good selection of fillings. I would always recommend cider with galettes, so would discount the previous "wine" about the wine.

Arrived in Coutances and found this restaurant shortly after parking near the tourist office. Very clean, modern, busy restaurant. Extensive lunch menu. Waitress was very friendly as well as extremely busy. We both chose chicken dishes and food was extremely tasty. â¬40 for 2 main courses, 2 deserts, water and coffee. Highly recommended.

I cannot believe that we have lived in this area for so long and not visited this restaurant before. The place is very small, with about 20 covers. We had the 3 course lunchtime menu at 18â¬, a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and 6 desserts. Each course was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. The two staff were attentive and friendly.A trip to the toilets was interesting, down the stone spiral stairs - mind your head!I could not fault any of it. Wise to book as the place was full. We will certainly be going again.

We are oyster farmers and have created a tasting counter live from our oyster shed site. Come and taste Père Gus's Oysters and other seafood in an exceptional setting!
This is a small place where you can taste, eat and buy oisters right from the sea.It is an agreable place. The man who served us was very nice and told you all you want to know about oisters. We had six oisters plus one free. They were absolutely fresh and delicious.A place you cannot pass without having oisters provided you like them. The white wine which accompanied the oisters was excellent. Fumee blanch from Cotes de Gascongne.Of course some fresh bread too.
