We are staying at Chaponost as a stop over on the journey home from the south of France and came across this lovely, friendly local restaurant for dinner, recommended by the nearby chambre dâhôte where we stayed. It was very busy on a Thursday evening, so itâs worth booking. Complimentary charcuterie was provided as there was a bit of a wait before things started off, but the good humoured guy who was running things (and spoke some English) kept us happy along with the carafe of rosé. We had carpaccio of beef with a salad to start with, then andouillette in a mustard sauce, and a ceviche of Scottish salmon to follow. Great flavours and accurately prepared. There were four or five other main courses on offer but clearly this was great local home cooking, everything freshly prepared. The dessert was a cherry and apricot clafoutis from a short selection of home made specialities. More rosé, a complimentary calvados with the coffee and we were happy! A lovely evening at a busy restaurant with an obviously enthusiastic local clientele; donât expect a quick meal, enjoy the whole experience!Iâve posted a picture of the menu. Lovely!

What pity... we were really looking forward to visiting this restaurant. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful with lots of space. However, our main meal arrived cold and the fish was under cooked. It then took them 25 minutes to bring the dessert - something simple like a cheese platter. Not sure I'll go back.

It looks an Industry area, and the building don' look that nice fr.o.m.the outside. However entering the restaurant it shows to be very nice. Modern style, very inviting. We were there a Tuesday evening, not crowdy but enough people to give a good atmosphere. Service perfect, and the food ( high variety) was very nice. We had 4 different dishes around the table. All were satisfied. If any complaints it should be that the St.Marcelin should have been somewhat more mature and tasty.....Thank you so much for this pleasant comment toward our restaurant La Forêt Noire. Looking forward to welcome you again !Team La Forêt Noire

Visited Cafe de la Gare for the first time since the unfortunate fire they had last year. They have really outdone themselves by creating a new restaurant on the property using shipping crates and a lot of creativity!! Sounds odd, but it really works. Great atmosphere, wonderful food, and the usual Cafe de la Gare welcome. Best lunch in town!

As we were staying at the Novotel Lyon Confluence, we decided to eat at the hotel's restaurant. Whilst we were seated promptly outside at a table with views directly over the Saone River, the meal service was quite slow. A disappointing fact was that we had ordered two soups as starters, yet only one was served. As we waited for the second soup, the first one became cold. The two main course meals of salmon and fish were served at the same time - which was appreciated. We ended our meal with a bowl of ice-cream & sorbet. Due to the mix-up with the entree, a glass of wine was complimentary. All in all, quite disappointing for a restaurant of this calibre.
