Brasserie à fuir. Blanquette de veau 1 galette de pomme de terre et 4 petits morceaux de viande dans l assiette. Et un croque madame à 12â¬50 servie sans salade. Rien à dire sur le service.

We were nearly put off but some of the previous reviews but thankfully not. We were a party of eight and had a lovely dinner. All of us enjoyed it, the food was very good and service excellent. The bill was slightly more than 2 of the other restaurants we visited but I would still recommend it.

Walked in off the street and the owners were very friendly and helpful. We do not speak French and they translated for us. We ordered the salmon linguine in Pesto sauce and it is the best meal we have had in France to date. We have been in France 10 days and not had much luck with finding good dinners. This is a place not to miss.

Arrival is down a long tree-lined driveway through lawn and gardens to a well-maintained small chateau and creates a sense of relaxed elegance. Probably a popular wedding venue. After obligatory photos we were welcomed by typically well groomed staff members. We were in Briare near the end of a canal boat journey down the Canal du Lateral de Loire and had booked at this restaurant on the recommendation (and booked on the 'phone as we waited) of a helpful staff member at the office de tourisme at Belleville-sur-Loire. When we arrived there was no reservation (later I concluded that we must have been booked for another night) but "no probleme" as they readied a table. The hotel/restaurant appeared nearly empty and the waiter explained that their normal menu was not possible (groan) but the chef would make us a 5 course degustation for E45 - YES THANKS.Sensing a good meal in the offing, I selected a 1er cru Monrachet and a Ch Pez Bordeaux for only E110 the pair! Very pleased as both were excellent. The meal was a triumphal procession of visual and palate-pleasing delights that rated well among many Michelin-starred places we have eaten. Congratulations to the chef and staff for creating such a success from what could have been a misadventure. Magnifique and thanks. Oh, and all up the bill for 2 came to only A$315 - a bargain; Oz restaurants take note!

We stopped there before getting on our barge. It was clean ,friendly and accommodating. Dinner was great.Seating outside on the terrace was very relaxing just watching barges come by.The oldest canal and worth the breathtaking experience. We also had breakfast there and there were plenty of options.Would come back for sure.

Family run for 17 years this is a place the locals know about so you won't find too many tourists here.Traditional home cooking with a range of menus from 14.50 for three courses including a very good cheese selection. Reasonable wine list with local wines as well a selection from further afield and moderately priced. Nice atmosphere and friendly efficient service make it a treat for lunch. NB only opens for dinner on Saturday nights. We'll definitely be back, probably several times!

We chose this place because of the interesting menu du jour displayed outside the restaurant. It was expensive for a lunch (25 euros for main course and dessert) but we are prepared to pay for good food. Sadly we think that it was overpriced for what we had. The slow cooked lamb and fillets of fish were well cooked but the accompaniment of a very small portion of little pieces of sauted vegetables, including scorched onions, showed no skill and there was barely any sauce on either dish. The dessert of peaches poached in red wine was lovely, and the ice creams served with fresh fruit were very refreshing on a very hot summer day. The chef was really welcoming and spoke english but was on his own and had to cook and serve the food. The total was 57 euros which included a bottle of mineral water. Probably 18 -20 euros would have been a fairer price for this two course meal.

This lovely building houses delicious chocolates and gateaux. It's the perfect place to sit and watch people walking over the Pont Canal or doing the same by boat. It can get very busy but we managed to have the terrace to ourselves one morning to enjoy a delicious cake and coffee

One can walk anywhere in Briare in minutes. Head over the little bridge and there is Le Petit Saint with the Blue canopy. If you are fortunate enough to have an outside table ( ask your hotelier to make reservations) you can slow way down and watch the bridge for movement and the water water for wakes. Food is delicious, delivered with hustle from the kitchen it is hot and demanding attention. Your host checks to see if everything is satisfactory and then bids you adieu so you may dine at your leisure.
