Even though we arrived late, the team arranged a way for us to eat. We've been treated to a delicious axoa. I've been spending half of the year in the Basque Country since I was born and I've rarely eaten one like that. Would definitely recommend + the team is super nice!

Located in a very traditional hotel in the main square you will be pleasantly surprised by the modernity of the interior and the dishes served. Whenever possible local ingredients have been used and the supplier acknowledged. Many of the meals on offer are based on traditional cuisine from the basque region, but have been given a modern twist. The owners will make you more than welcome. They are well supported by friendly and helpful staff.Make sure you leave room for one of their fabulous desserts. Well worth a try is the 'delice du moment' or the 'cafe gourmandise' produced by Franck Mendive, local chocolatier, delicious!

In the Hôtel Restaurant du Chene, next to the church of Itxassou, one of the most beautiful church in The Basque Country (from the 17th century), you will be warmly welcomed and will enjoy a peaceful and gastronomic moment. Five minutes away from Espelett
We were spending a couple of days at a nearby B & B, when we were told about Restaurant du Chene by our host.Arriving slightly earlier than the local dinner hour, we were seated right away, and attended to throughout delicious meals chosen from the extensive menu. A delightful dining experience, complete with; good service; good food and wine; fair prices and a nice ambiance.

This is obviously a family run establishment. Many people at dinner are staying at the inn. The food was good, service was a little challenge due to the press of people arriving at the same time, but overall ok. Most menu items were regional interpretations.

This may be one of the more difficult places to get to but definitely worth while. Home made food and the menu at â¬20 is impressive. Make sure you have plenty of space to eat the delicious and fresh trouts, confit of lamb and the duck. Delicious home made food and very friendly service.

We went there after a little walk in the beautiful basqueland (my family go there often but for me it was the first time) and I was really pleased with my lunch. The food is simple but the quality is high. The service was efficient and the prices very good.Well done.

Our hiking group had a reservation for lunch on the outdoor patio. We approached the town on foot after a several hour hike to Bidarray. What a quaint little village. Complete with a beautiful church and well kept cemetery. Our lunch was served family style. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal of traditional Basque cuisine and the friendly service. Portions were large and if you had leftovers, there was a dog who was more than glad to help with dropped scraps :)It was nice to relax on this casual patio and experience an unhurried, conversation filled lunch.Enjoyed seeing this small village and appreciated its hospitality.

Beautiful views, mediocre food, service not legendary. Hit and miss for finding it open. Word has it that they are in liquidation. For the life of me I have no idea why the proprietors took on this challenge....they were very inconsistent in EVERYTHING: opening hours, food, service, etc. A real shame because the placement and views are spectacular. The restaurant needs a bit of tweeking. There again, word has it that this same business and failed scenario has occurred elsewhere. Here's hoping some serious tenants that WANT TO MAKE IT WORK are just around the corner, so to speak.

If you want a relaxing, delicious meal in a stunning location, this is your spot. We had two beautiful meals here. They appear understaffed at times but always remain polite. There were two dishes particular that must not be missed: Lobster with black pudding starter (amazing combination) and the Grand Marnier Soufflé (served with chocolate sorbet and suzette butter). Both were out of this world amazing.

Salon Cyrano is dedicated to good and beautiful moments: A cup tea on a sunny terrace, protected by plane trees. A peaceful lunch with exclusively local products. The Salon Cyrano team welcomes you with all its generosity and good care.
On a recent rip to Cambo-les-bains, we ate lunch several times at Cyrano. The food is excellent, the staff top notch, and the view from the patio to beautiful! Highly recommend Cyrano
