Reviews on French food in Bern, Canton of Bern, Switzerland. A powerful force since medieval times, the thriving Swiss capital is an appealing city of museums and collections. Bernmobil is the capital's transit service. A BernCard is valid on trams and buses that serve the city. A free bike service is also an option for getting around. The Historical Museum and the Collection of the Bern Museum of Fine Arts house the art and architecture of millennia. The Einstein House and the Paul Klee Center showcase the work of two of Bern's famous former inhabitants.

The strangest thing was the weird atmosphere in the 2 rooms. We couldn't quite decide whether it was like a canteen or just some carelessly furnished place. The food was ok but certainly nothing to write home about, the meat could have been anything, the Swiss wine rather bland and non-descript. It is not that this place is outright bad but it hasn't provided us with a reason to go back.Service left to be desired, some drinks and plates were just plonked on the table and you had to reach across the table to get them. Any waiter in bistros in France has done better than that.

I had lunch with friends at this new and modern restaurant. The service, food and view were outstanding. We all had the steak tartare which was filled with flavour and delicious. Service was professional and friendly. I appreciated Maurice, the owner, greating us and making us feel welcome. Definitely a 'must visit' when in Bern.

Tradition has never been more modern, and Swissness never more cosmopolitan - Gregor Zimmermann's cuisine takes you by surprise, making classic dishes astonishingly contemporary, light and seductive. Restaurant VUE defies all labels - it's effortlessly el
We enjoyed high class service combined with the perfect view on a sunny day. All this combined with cold drinks made it a perfect experience ...

After having heard many recommendations about this nice restaurant in Berne we went to have dinner. Unfortunately we cannot say much good about this restaurant. Arriving at 7pm there were already quite some people eating and despite leaving the entrance door open it was very hot inside and also quite loud. For those many tables it seemed that there was only one waitress, she was clearly swamped. The food was nothing special: as starter we tried the lemongras soup which was rather a dessert - very sweet! Then as main dishes: it seemed as if the cook forgot to salt the meat but dropped the whole lot onto the potatoes. Also the fish on the gazpacho wasn't tasty, the gazpacho could've been bought at the supermarket.Luckily it wasn't too expensive.Good morningWe are very surprised about your message! As it was hot in Berne we couldn't do anything about it!!And if it happens that many clients avvire on the same timewe try to do our best.......Sorry that the food was not your taste, we usually havealways a good feedback!Ch. The legendary Jackâs Brasserie is the main restaurant at the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern. In its typical fin-de-siècle ambience it offers classic market-fresh, French Brasserie cuisine as well as Schweizerhof classics â such as its famous Wienerschnitzel.
I love Jack's Brasserie but this morning was very frustrating: I arrived at 10h38 and wanted to order breakfast, was told that the room was not available anymore for coffee / breakfast as the staff was preparing it for lunch (usually it is always possible to use one of the side tables, but today not for some reason). I was sent to the lobby which is not half as nice and was very dusty due to construction work, so I left. I expect from a leading hotel of the world that they treat their guests with more respect and show a little bit of flexibility...Dear ToninoTundo, thank you for your visit and your feedback. We are sorry we couldn't meet your expectations when you were last visiting us. We serve breakfast usually from 6.30 am until 10.30 am at the Jack's Brasserie. As we serve breakfast in the same room we serve lunch, we have to prepare the setup for lunch timely to be ready at 11.30 am for our guests to arrive from lunch. If we are not completely sold out for lunch it is always possible to use one of the tables in the front of the restaurant. Furthermore, we offer our guests the possibility to enjoy the breakfast in our Lobby-Lounge-Bar. However, I can understand that last week this hasn't been a satisfying solution for you as a part of our Lobby-Lounge-Bar had been under construction. Please accept our apologies for the inconveniences. We hope to welcome you soon back and wish you a happy Easter! All the best, Seraina Zahner

My parents and I had seen the Prison Tower, the Clock Tower, the Bärenplatz, the Einstein House, on our way to the Bärengraben. So we stopped at Brasserie Bärengraben for a quick lunch. The outside tables were filled or reserved, so we settled at a table inside. Our waiter spoke French, so I switched over. Nice bread - but of course: it's French. We all had gazpacho, which was fresh, and clean, and tasted like summer. Light, with just a little spice. Then, off to the bear grave!

In Berne's traffic free Aarbergergasse quarter, just five minutes from the parlament house and main station, lies the Gourmanderie Moléson. The gourmet menu entices you with real culinary pleasures. Grandma's market fresh meals with Swiss veal Cordon Bleu
Lovely restaurant with a terrace in a quiet street. We enjoyed a very nice dinner on a beautiful summer evening together with friends and their three children. Service was friendly and welcoming. They immediately brought some pencils and paper to entertain the children. We could not resist ordering the cheese fondue with mushrooms. It was truly excellent. The melted cheese was exactly what we needed after a day walking the streets of Bern.Great place for traditional Swiss food.

We had lunch here while visiting the Christmas Markets. I had the pumpkin soup with a salad and the wife had the pasta with mushrooms. Both were delicious, fresh, and tasty. Located in the old town the service was friendly and helpful. The menu changes daily so everything is always fresh.

We have visited this restaurant to celebrate different festivities. It has probably been our best choice since the chef takes particularly good care of each and single course on those special occasions. Members of the staff are very friendly and do their best to welcome you. They offer you good suggestions for drinks and wine pairings. During Summer time, rather sit on the patio and ask for their "Hugo" cocktail. Food is good but definitely not extraordinary. I have to agree with viewers who mention that it is probably one of the best restaurants in Bern (not that the list is very long though...). Dishes are well executed, but somehow you feel they could do better, particularly on their French classics. We can recommend it for families. Our child loves their Schnitzel with pommes frites.
