We ate in here four times during autumn 2015 and in every case we had superb food, including:Beef brochetteColombo chicken (Caribbean spiced chicken âcurryâ)Beef carbonnadeBeef grillade ( a huge chunk of steak with a creamy blue cheese sauce)The range of starters is a bit limited, but the size of the main courses, and range of desserts (many home made) more than makes up for this.The prices are very reasonable.Weâre pleased to see that the new owners are making such an effort to make this establishment more than just the camp-site annex. Donât be fooled, do stop and try it.The building will never be inspiring, but the food is!

Ate here the other night and food was ok for French pizzeria fare. The portions were generous by typical French standards and service was ok. Relatively inexpensive. Limited inside seating with several tables/chairs with umbrellas outside on the main square.

Un bar à tapas à Argentat. Voilà une chose qui a immédiatement attiré notre attention. Nous avons essayé, goûté, apprécié et maintenant nous y allons très régulièrement avec la certitude de passer un excellent moment en dégustant des choses délicieuses. Nous faisons découvrir ce lieu à tout notre entourage et franchement, nous avons toujours obtenu une approbation enthousiaste. Ajoutez à cela un accueil tout en sourires et un service des plus chaleureux. Precipitez-vous !

Sunday lunch menu at 29â¬. Amuse bouche followed by entrée and main courses, cheese and desert. All excellent. Unfortunately service was a little haphazard, long waits whilst some diners arriving after us were served before us, and not because of the dishes we chose. Waiter and waitress were, nonetheless, very pleasant. In their defence they were very busy both inside and outside. Would go back again but perhaps when they are less busy.

Lovely lunch beside the river. The proprietor friendly and helpful. Lunch was lovely and not rushed even though the restaurant became very busy. The food was really nice and the view was amazing. Unfortunately I do not speak French being from foreign lands; however the proprietor showed an itemised bill in euros for me. The service was great and the ambience fantastic. I recommend this establishment.

We came to the Black Lion after a moring at Tours del Merle. We were starving and the food really hit the spot! Burgers were great, perfect portion sizes. Service was really good, the owner spoke fantastic English which was great after struggling most of the week. Kids and dogs were made to feel very welcome!

First, the ambiance is rich, world-class paintings, etchings, right down to the lamps and tables, it reeks of class. A friend had told us that the kitchen was superb, and they were right! The couple, Brigitte and Bruno, well, it's as if you're in a delightful Parisienne Brasserie...good service with a smile, grilled escargot, she said it was the best ever, and the same for the foi gras, perfect. She has cabeljauw, top, and I had a 250 gram entrecôte cooked "a point ", just pink and not bloody, I keep saying perfect, but it was!Sublime crème brûlée, apple strawberry pie, well, I really hope they stay, Argentat needs them!

had a lovely evening here following a disappointing night the night before-Madame took care of us straight from the start and we felt welcome and valued customers-our food was lovely particularly my wife's tomato salad and it was an excellent value for money meal. Service was also superb!

This restaurant is a must if you are around Argentat! The sunny terrace behind the simple street appearance is a delight. The food were delicious, the adjective doesn't pay justice though. It was well thought, well performed and well presented, a perfect piece of music.The staff are welcoming and the service was impeccable.Do recommend!
