Our new Restaurant in Allschwil near Basel.
We heard about the Brasserie & Grill Sans Souci in Basel and we wanted to try it ourselves. The restaurant is situated outside the city center, however features parking lots and is easily reachable by tram No. 6.The old building which used to be a hotel and ballroom is nicely refurbished on the outside and the inside. The Brasserie & Grill is on the first floor, with a nice lounge and bar area on the right hand side, where we took an apéro.The restaurant is located in a glasshouse that seems to be newly attached to the old building. We had the Chateaubriand with side dishes, all very good. The service was attentive and efficient. There is a very nice wine list as well, from which we took a beautiful Barolo. All in all we were very happy and will return.

Good food, unpretentious and fresh with a homemade feel. Like the little shop attached restaurant as well. It's great to find some place to have a decent brunch near the Swiss border where you have non-Swiss prices *aka* affordable dining, which offers more than bratwurst and spätzle :)

Brasserie on top of Spalenberg in the old city. The kitchen is open all day from 11.30 - 22.30 H. Friendly and quick service with fresh and local specialties. October till April sunday open.
we had not booked and the restaurant was buzzing but we were offered a table for 9 pm. We arrived a little earlier and table was available and order and drinks taken quickly. We both had pasta, mine with salmon and cream and dill, my husband with chorizo. Pasta excellent for both, my husband would have welcomed a little more chrizo whereas the salmon was plentiful. Overall excellent, good atmosphere and service excellent and welcoming. we liked the art deco environment and stunning stained glass.

The menu is very balanced, with a couple of classics A la Card, and slightly different special menus. The dishes are prepared with care, and it shows. They are little works of art. i tried the "Plaisir" menu, with both fish and meat. perfectly cooked. Portions are relatively large. A good start and sign of things to come is the amuse, very special (although also relatively large). A special point is the service: although the personnel was young/in training, everything was done professional, and little introductions to each meal. Perfect.

I wanted to post this update to give this interesting place it's fair due. Last time we had large business group for dinner and it didn't go so well. The space itself is worth mentioning: beautiful antic tiled stove, modern mural on medieval theme, chandelier...This time it was a dinner for 2 and it was a very positive experience. Our dishes were perfectly executed and seasoned. Service was a bit of an issue at first as the lady did not speak/understood English well. That said once we got through the order taking it was good and attentive. Chef stopped by and checked on us. They offered 2 amuse bouches. Lobster and scallops were amazing however what it was served with I didnât like (tapioca, seaweed and fruit preserve). It was not complementary. My colleagueâs fish was divine.

In the Brasserie Les Trois Rois we serve you with Swiss and French brasserie specialties, with ingredients fresh from the market, which bear testimony to the richness of the regional produce. The richly varied and colourful menu bears witness to the consi
Dinner at the Brasserie Les Trois Rois provided some challenges with the service. After seating us and providing menus and the extensive wine list, I indicated to the maître d' that we wanted to choose the wine and have a glass before ordering the food. This message seemed hard to get across, since he appeared at least three times asking us to order food without any sign of the wine. We persisted. It took quite some time for the wine to arrive and then we ordered from the menus. The waiter that was assigned to us spoke no English whatsoever, so asking for some explanation from the menus proved difficult. While we believe that the waiter thought he was providing good service, it was quite the opposite; he hovered around the table all night. As soon as we took a sip of wine, he refilled the glasses with another sip. At least twelve times! As soon as a plate was finished, it was whisked away. Perhaps the kitchen had run out of crockery? We felt like asking him if would like to pull up a chair and join us rather than hovering over our shoulders all night. This was the closest to an intrusion of privacy we have ever experienced in a restaurant (despite that fact he spoke no English). No peace, no privacy. It totally spoiled the evening. Shades of Fawlty Towers. The food was very good â the veal with kidneys and vegetables was delicious. At least they had a good chef. Pity about the service. And the restaurant was full!Dear GuestThank you for your personal review about your visit at the Brasserie Les Trois Rois during the fair Art Basel, our most busiest time in the year.We sincerely regret that we were unable to meet your expectations and that you were not entirely satisfied with the service provided. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconveniences and be assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problems internally. We hope you will give us the opportunity to convince you our usual professional service. My wife and I live in Basel and have been to most of the nicer restaurants. This is a new favorite. Very nice and knowledgable staff, excellent food, and they accommodated my wife's vegetarian diet with really great variety (instead of the usual single pasta dish option she's used to at many places). Will definitely be back. I highly recommend the 4-course surprise menu with wine pairing. Perfectly done!

This experience demonstrates what constitutes a three star restaurant. Food is a visual delight and followed by bursts of flavors. Small portions allow for several courses. We matched each course with local wines suggested by the Somm. Hint: avoid the reds. Service great. Pigeon my favorite course. Even the amuse bouche was creative. Beautiful dining room in a beautiful hotel. But be prepared to spend $600 a couple plus the cost of the wine. Dear Tom MThank you very much for your lovely words regarding your visit at the fine dining restaurant Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl. We feel honoured to receive such a great compliment. Rest assured that we pass on your motivational words to our entire team and look forward to making your next visit at the restaurant just as special.Yours sincerleyTanja WegmannGeneral Manager
