As the place was crowded and we had no reservation, we sat at a table near the bar. It is a very noisy place, so you do not have the feeling to have a relaxed dinner for two.The dishes on the menu are simple but the food is ok. Our drinks (coca cola) were served in a glass that smelled like the water of the washing-up. This was really not nice and we were worried about this. Looking towards the bar we saw how these people wash their glasses: indeed very quick in and out dirty water.

Nice format: 3 courses for just â¬14.50 and even â¬12.50 from Mo-Wed.Although dishes are not large (not small either); after having all 3 courses, you've probably had enough to eat and if not; you can order an additional starter for just â¬4.The serve fish, meat and vegetarian dishes; great variety of choices. Well prepared and great taste. A minor thing: it can be noisy when there are many people, you need to speak louder during a table conversation.

The restaurant was located in the lovely cobbled streets of Alkmaar - parking close was an issue, but there was a multi-story a short stroll away.The restaurant was quite busy (probably worth booking at peak periods). The food was very tasty (although the portions were typically quite small). The wine list was excellent.Overall, the cost was appropriate with the quality of the food.Would go back.

This is a seriously good restaurant in central Alkmaar. The menu is small but everything we tried was delicious, from the hard and soft goat cheese salad to the vegetables en croûte main dish and the poffertjes for desert. The host brought us a different and thoughtfully paired wine for each course and explained why he thought the wine matched the dish in question. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The experience was positive from beginning to end!

If you are up for it go for the surprise menu. Really nice dishes. A small, cosy and quite environment. Unfortunately not always to crowded, especially if you come later (after 7pm) in the evening you will end up being the last guest soon (after 10pm).
