Things to do in Surigao City
Hotel restaurant offering buffet breakfast and a la carte lunches and dinners.
I had the breakfast one morning for about P300 before i decided to stay. The tariff then included this for next day.I enjoyed the fruit and especially the omelette cooked to order by friendly Mike who spoke flawless English. All staff were capable and engaging. They varied the juices. On my second morning it was a delicious cucumber juice, albeit perhaps with much sugar.Yoghurt was lacking so it would be great if it could be added.I had hot sweet corn soup the first morning which was lovely despite not being something I would ever have for brekky at home. Some Filipino hot dishes were also on offer.
This is where the busy and lively part of general luna's tourism road really starts. Beer here is cheap. A lot of people go here to chill and drink.
This chain offers the best Bulalo (so far in my experience) in Surigao City. Their food is cheap. Their service is fast (carinderia style). Their bulalo is something to try out.
Iâm not gonna miss Dessert Factoryâs Kinamatisang Kawali anymore. The one at Road Grill tastes even better. Big serving for only P99? What a deal! Love their buffalo wings as well. Thanks Road Grill for serving these kind of dishes here in Surigao.

The place is located near pier 1. They have nice chicken barbeque, etc. By the way, their store is air-conditioned and the price is affordable. Try this place when you are in Surigao City.
We visited this restaurant by means of recommendation from our trisikad driver Larry. It is on the seafront and the restaurant is on stilts over the sea. Not the most pretty of places but restaurant was clean and food was very good. My wife had squid bbq and myself tuna belly with rice and Pinckney. Service was very good and food, portion size and presentation was good. Prices the norm for sea food. Didnât see many establishments in the local area to challenge this restaurant and would happily eat here again.
Another gastronomic experience in Surigao..this time I've sampled the best chicken inasal that place has to offer..no fancy sauce..just the juiciest bbq right into your plate..flavor is so simple ( a hint of lemon grass, coco vinegar and ginger )...every bite is satisfying to the palate..don't miss their isol/isoy aside from paa,and Pecho..be here early if you want to be seated soon as you arrived...the place is small and there's a long cue waiting outside...best value for money..definitely will eat here when I travel back to Surigao!

So uncommon. The aircon is not set on minus 5 degrees, the music is decently in the background and the music is really not the typical crap but really good. The food is really great. Unbelievable seafood. They should really stop contaminating some dishes with pork. The staff is friendly but a bit disoriented and could focus a bit more on the guests.

I returned to EJ's for a second visit last evening ⦠Unbelievably the meal was even worse that the cremated garbage that they served me during my first visit.I ordered their Beef with Broccoli and what, ideally, should have arrived would have been succulent slices of beef freshly simmered in it's own gravy style sauce with sliced broccoli added towards the end of the cooking process and served to the table ⦠No chance! The beef had not been freshly cooked, in fact it hadn't been cooked that day at all, it was pre-cooked beef that I became of the opinion that they buy-in processed, they had sliced it and cut it in to small rectangular pieces and, I believe, put it thru a microwave prior to serving, it was both tough and chewy and not succulent, melt-in-the-mouth, as it could/should have been. Then there was a carrot garnish, my god there was probably two complete carrots of it, now carrot can be really refreshing when there is water still within but this carrot was old, it was dry and of a rubber texture and would have been more appropriately served in the bin.The broccoli, complete florets of it, clearly straight out of a saucepan of water and having not been anywhere near the beef during the cooking process which, of course, would have been the microwave! But then came their 'Pièce de Résistance' ... the goddam awful sauce ⦠I realise that this lot shall never get it but not all of the world is addicted to sugar as they are, sugar is a killer and having not taken sugar myself for the past 35 years it is not just that I find the stuff disgusting but I am actually offended when some idiot decides to lace my meat & vegetable dinner with it. It was so sweet it was disgusting but there was so much sugar in the sauce that as the meal cooled down the sauce solidified around the beef, it was like I would have needed a hammer & chisel had I wished to continue eating this garbage.EJ's has the makings of a good restaurant, nice location etc., but whoever is in charge of their produce purchasing, their recipes selection and their cooking processes needs to be fired before the place has any chance of improving because somebody has clearly lost the plot!
