The Lake Okeechobee area was the site of the worst effects of the 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane, the first recorded Category 5 hurricane in the North Atlantic and still one of the deadliest hurricanes ever to strike the US.

It is about 25 miles between Cheers and Beers and Okeechobee. Thankfully, the Ridge Market is about half-way for the restroom break, pick up snacks or to get a hot breakfast and lunch.You order and pick up at the counter and clean up after yourself. Its all good food.

They always make it like I ask. No problem getting only what you want on the sub, or load it up. Plenty of choices. Nice , clean place to eat in, too. great prices, and daily specials.

First of all this is nowhere as good as the downtown Disney Earl of sandwich. However, The staff is very accommodating in making special needs sandwiches. Therefore if you are on the turnpike I strongly suggest visiting this location compared to any of the other food options. Also note that this location ultimately called Fort Drum is probably the best stop on the turnpike.
