Hartley's was first opened in 1998 by Mark Hartley. ORiginally the building was a milking parlour, and behind the bar area was the place where the calves were kept. It opened us a pub only but later, as the demand grew for pub lunches, a kitchen was added

Excellent food, good and personal service and best of all most affordable!We love our bush pub, Hartley's Pub and Restaurant. We are regular visitors and the staff knows exactly what we will enjoy! It is also a highly recommendable restaurant using an old milk stall with great atmosphere. Try it, you will not be disappointed! Well done to the owner and staff for making our visits enjoyable.

We like supporting our local businesses, and considering there are only so many options for dining in little ole Lichtenburg, SPUR remains a popular choice. To be honest, we mostly go for the large play-area, which is reasonably well maintained (shame about the proximity to the rubbish-bins, though...). Unfortunately, same as other rural business, the quality of the service and product does vary between visits, so you are never sure if you will be satisfied or not. SPUR prices are also not so family friendly anymore these day (what is, though?), so when you hit a bad day it does not bode well...but ultimately you return because...options! Ultimately, if you are not too thin-skinned, SPUR remains a good choice (let's be honest, their nachos remain a favourite. And I really like the recently added Peppermint Crisp tart...just like Ouma used to make it!). Wonderful to sit on the balcony overlooking the busy 4 way crossing below. My wife and I spent time in the Mooirivier Mall and when we looked again it was supper time. Instead of driving to our self catering apartment and making supper, we decided to have supper at the Montana Spur. They really tried to help my wife who has a host of food allergies, including gluten, milk and she is also diabetic. She had the ribs without any basting or sauces and I had a combo meal. It was good value for money, fair portions for the price and good service. When we arrived at our self catering apartment, we found the electricity was off, so we would not have been able to cook in any case.
