Where to eat Fast Food food in North Holland Province: The Best Restaurants and Bars

September 24, 2019 Deane Carmody

Reviews on Fast Food food in North Holland Province, The Netherlands. Mostly jutting northward from its largest city of Amsterdam and its capital of Haarlem, the Noord-Holland region has much more to offer beyond those two wonderful cities. At Muiden is the magnificent Muiderslot Castle, as if it stepped out of a fairy tale. Showing more wear but no less interesting is Brederode Castle at Santpoort. At Zaanstad is Zaanse Schans, one of Holland’s top tourist destinations and a family-friendly open air museum of windmills, traditional buildings, crafts and shops.

For an experience with a true Amsterdam icon and legendary food encounter do not pass up this eatery. Worth searching for, but not that difficult to find. Rob has been at this location for 40 years and deserves the reputation he enjoys for amazing seafood and fish choices. A cordial fun loving host, owner, and ambassador for all of the Netherlands. And like he says, if you don’t have the pickled herring, why are you here at all ?

Decent chicken on the street. Good but nothing to rave about really. When we visited for lunch, the guys working the stall were swamped. It was impossible to tell where to order, where to pick up; not a single sign. When we finally managed to get close enough to ask one of the guys “where is the end of the queue”, he just threw his hands up in the air meaning he is clueless. We finally wrestled to the other end of the stall to order our food and managed to pick it up. We even found a spot at one of the picnic tables next to the stall. The spicy chicken was good but the drumsticks and wings were just ok. From the side of the stall I asked for some napkins and did not get a response. Then I was scolded for asking for napkins at such a busy time. One of the food price labels read “Tripadvisor famous chicken”.... Well, we certainly thought the fame was just hype. Overall, we had a very negative experience.

Visited the Wijde Heisteeg 1, 1016 AS Amsterdam location. Though we couldn't be seated, we ordered take away. It was a SCRUMPTIOUS first meal for us (Americans getting acclimated to Amsterdam). Watching the food preparation was an event, in and of itself. The beverages were interesting and quite tasty. When we return? We'll return here.Dear Professor, please do, we are looking forward to it! In the meantime, thank you very much for your visit and excellent review. If you want to enjoy your next visit seated and with a glass of wine, our location in Utrechtsestraat 69 does offer both...Best regardsDan
