It is an honor to put Cafe Liberty on the TripAdvisor Map and be the first one to review it."There is no sincerer love than the love of food," wrote George B. Shaw. The people who give the food at this cafe do so with their heart. This feeling I have very rarely had having eaten practically all around the world. This place is "eye candy" and has "soul food." The owners vision is beautifully realized in this one of a kind cafe. It is a canvas of their dreams, and has been painted with so much care and detail. One can not help but become one with the place when there. The energy here is magnetic and soothing at the same time. From the moment you enter, it feels that you have been transported into a time capsule. And that feeling keeps on renewing in every bend and corner of this cafe. The place is full of beautifully displayed antique items, and tastefully appointed furniture. Rich Kashmiri heritage is also on display and creates a sense of nostalgia. The juxtaposition of old and new is brilliantly done. Now to the food. John Walters said ," The only thing I like better than talking about food is eating." And eat you must! The food for the most part is too good. The highlight definitely are the various skewered chicken and lamb preparations that come served on a portable barbeque (angithi), served with fresh thin bread ( rumaali rotis). This barbeque feast is so juicy, so flavorful, so satisfying ( I am salivating just at the thought as I do this review) so well prepared and so elegantly served, that each and every aspect of this dining experience becomes memorable! One just can't stop eating!Other preparations including kathi rolls, murg tangdi kebabs, lamb seekh kebabs, and chicken biryani were also very well prepared and quite tasty. They were also served like they would be in a top end restaurant.Various mocktails and other drinks including fresh mulberry juice were also available and were refreshing. The menu is very affordable and elaborate. The place also serves freshly prepared desserts including pasteries, eclairs, cakes etc, and from feedback from other friends and family, these are quite delicious too. We had their signature chocolate cake and it was superb.I was very impressed by the cleanliness in the kitchen and high standards of hygiene practiced by the staff. The enthusiasm, professionalism, and warmness of the staff was exemplary. This place also makes specialty cakes for various occasions. They also arrange parties at site for large groups including get togethers , reunions etc.Kudos to the owners whose heart and soul fills the place and whose efforts show in the delicious food and drink served here. This place will be a huge success, I have no doubt!

Were staying at Hotel Hilltop and visited this restaurant for change from Punjabi food. The ambience is excellent, there is a wood fired heater which gives off excellent heat and is a god-send when the temperature outside is in minus as it was when we visited. We ordered pizza, burger, sandwiches, french fries, Chinese and it all worked. No complaint about the taste of a single dish. Didn't care too much for the tea which was too weak for my taste but coffee was excellent. The Kashmiri Kahwa was good without being exceptional. The service was excellent and prompt. The staff was friendly and courteous. Really hard to see what we can complain about.Generally reviews are mostly negative but I believe that positive experiences must be highlighted as well so that there is a feeling of satisfaction for the outlet that it's service is appreciated.Big thumbs up from me and keep up the good work.

Nothing great about this hotel, except that it is on the main road, overlooking the dal lake. Food is prepared fresh, so good from that perspective.Service is a bit slow.Price is affordable and usually there is place to sit, so no waiting.

I visited today after a long time this restaurant for lunch with the hope that there would be much more improvement than before. However, there was not any difference. Service was bit slow, I ordered my favourite dish of butter chicken, however, it does not taste as expected. But there was peace, good place for rest and food and staff need to gear-up their services.
We had food here on the way from srinagar airport to Gulmarg. It is a road side dhaba but the food is really good. They will serve most indian dishes and breads. I would definitely suggest to try their kashmiri pulao (i still long for the smoky flavor). I also liked their paneer dish but forgot the name.
