A rainbow assortment of palafitos (wooden houses on stilts) are the unofficial calling card of Castro, the capital city of Chiloé Island. Once home to thousands of farmers and a target for European pirates, Castro was established in the 16th century and is Chilé’s third-oldest city. Highights here are the astonishing wooden church, an impressive contemporary art museum and the charming wharf in the Gamboa district.

Didn't come here wanting or expecting much but truly, not worth considering for food. Massive portions do not make up for the complete lack of flavour. They had run out/ couldn't do Pizzas but a burger the size of a dinner plate was thrown down. Split in half, and then into quarters, my friend and I could barely even conceive finishing it. It was soooo big. Cheap, but maybe should should cut down on the size and focus on some taste. Grumpy service too. Settle for another place if you want to have food with a few beers. #notevendrunk
Got an Italian hot chocolate, it was fabulous, and came with free WiFi. If your on a cruise, seek it out, it's clean and friendly.
If you want to try the local seafood empanadas, but want to stay away from the crowds in Dalcahue and Castro, this is your place. Freshly prepared empanadas are offered together with some other local fast food. There is a nice sitting place outside, iwithin an old apple orchard.

in the center of Castro 3 blocks from the bus station and opposite the church is this cozy place. You can serve drinks and food, good pizzas and chorrillanas. 100% recommended.
Coffee and Creperie that tries to rescue Chilote traditions through its gastronomy. We also work with mate, and traditional food.
Exquisitos crepes, sobretodo salados! Buen café de higo y la atención siempre muy muy buena. La decoración no es de todo mi gusto, pero siempre es un agrado ir! Recomendado!!

Want a cheap, huge, good meal? This is the place. Good service, good food, good prices!Sandwiches here are served in 2 sizes, big and huge! I had the "normal" one and it was big enough, the big one was size XXXL and I didn't dare. But it wasn't only big, it was really good. They have a wide variety of sandwiches and empanadas, with options for vegans and vegetarians. What I had seemed fresh! They had a good variety of Chilean beers and wine. Good too!!I hope they keep the prices, quality of the food and the good service. Don't expect nothing fancy, but I'm going back!!!

I was a big fan of Domino´s in Santiago, and I´ve found the improved version of it in Castro! Real avocadoes, homemade âand abundant - mayonnaise, fresh tomatoes, fresh bread and high quality sausages make of this place THE place in Castro to try the Chilean Hot Dog, âItalianoâ and others. It is not a big spot, it only has a bar with about 4 chairs, but the quality of the product is good. You can see how they prepare everything while you wait. They offer other options such as ave (chicken), churrasco (beef), olive mayonnaise, merken mayonnaise, etc. but I stuck to the traditional Italiano, and it was good.
