Ordered from here while on holiday at Haven Berwick-upon-Tweed with the family. Ordered online, quick and east online service food ready at time stated. However food quite soggy and curry sauce with lumps and kind of tasteless. Quick and easy to use website food just could of been little better hence the three star review!

I always thought of the Great Wall as the best Chinese in Berwick but after last visit, Iâm not so sure...best curry sauce maybe but nothing more than that.1/4 aromatic duck for £9, this is restaurant prices and it wasnât very crispy and to be fair didnât seem to be very much of it, more like an 1/8th.We ordered one of their Thai dishes and one of their Chinese and couldnât tell the difference, both bland- not a scent of Coconut Milk or Lemongrass in the Thai, whichever one that was meant to be.Didnât want rice but wanted to try their salt and Chilli chips- the photos showed chips covered in pieces of Chilli.What we got was chips that were covered in batter, what a fantastic way of making something unhealthy even more calorific, they should just change the name to deep fried Cholesterol.Chicken breast curry- nice sauce, but I donât think chicken breast comes in diced sized cubes, I suspect this was cheap frozen chicken and not at all chicken breast.Itâs a real shame to see a decline in standards here, shall be taking my business to the other Chinese close by until it gets back on track.

We had a sit in meal which consisted of fish, chips and a burger. The service from the young waitress was exemplary and the food was served to us without a long wait . The meal was superb and tasted delicious. When we were leaving all of the staff wished us goodbye. A fantastic restaurant with great service and lovely food . What more could a person wish for!

Being from Yorkshire, I know good fish & chips from bad, and these were nothing short of disgusting quality. 1/ We asked for Haddock, chips & peas x 2, only to be informed that they did not have any haddock (5.30pm on a Friday?) Both pieces of fish(whatever they were) were full of bones, and just to confirm that this is not an authentic fish and chip shop, the peas that I ordered were microwaved from a tin of Batchelors mushy peas. The final part to confirm what an appalling meal this was, was the yellow wet soggy batter. £15 for the worst fish & chips I can recall. DO NOT GO HERE!

Just had delivery from here to Berwick Holiday Park - quick delivery and very tasty meal. Best chinese we have had in Berwick. Word of warning - Singapore chow mein was the hottest I have ever eaten but was full of flavour. Perfect for us but definitely beware if very hot isnât what you are after. We holiday several times a year and this is now firmly on out favourites. When visiting Berwick we always visit this place, I have never been so appalled at the service and attitude of the staff. We arrived and I spoke to a waitress asking if we can sit anywhere she said of course. 35 minutes later no one had taken our order or anything (in the meantime 3 tables that had sat down after us had all ordered) so at this I complained to a member of staff behind the counter to be told have you not ordered! We left and then decided we would get a takeaway to be greeted by the same girl as when I came before you would think the fact I had spoken to her when I arrived she would have realised that we had been waiting. No apology or a anything. To be fair it wasn't even that busy, as a person that works in the hospitality trade I have never been treated as poorly before and not one person apologised. If we had even been acknowledged, and said there is a bit of a wait I could understand but they were just rude.

We visited whilst on holiday near Berwick. Fabulous Pizza. Between us we had Margherita, Padana & Meathead and a portion of Dough Balls. The pizzas are restaurant quality, best pizzas we've had from a take away. Can highly recommend.

Castlegate would probably earn 4 stars from me but for one factor, namely that they use pre-cut chips. I enjoyed the meal I had reasonably well but did find something amiss with the chips. My suspicion was confirmed upon seeing sacks of these chips âout the backâ on my way to the toilet. Iâm not sure why these chips should be selected over cutting potatoes freshly like would be expected from a better chippy. I imagine it might be cost or effort, but the quality of the eating experience is definitely compromised. The fish was well fried and batter crispy so no complaints on that front.
