We booked for an early evening sitting and thoroughly enjoyed our three courses from the set menu. Great home cooked food, full of flavour and a lovely menu selection. Fresh and piping hot and we also enjoyed chatting to the chef/owner. It is a cosy and relaxed setting. We had tomato soup & herring spring roll to start. Then prawns, spinach and new potato gratin (scrumptious sauce) and a traditional Dutch pork Indonesian dish, both very tasty. Polished off with chocolate cake and ice-cream. All for â¬20 each. Would defiantly go back if we visit Zierikzee again.

We happened upon this restaurant, whilst looking for somewhere to eat, and were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food and service. Five of us shared the bread loaf and spreads as a starter, and then our individual meals, and all enjoyed excellent meals. Service was very good, would recommend this restaurant.

Nice place for food and drinks, just had drinks here on the lovely terrace on the main square of the cosy Zierikzee.

Zeeland Heaven is a rough translation of this charming restaurant's name, and you'll see why when you step into the garden. In the center of this beautifully-preserved town, you can purchase the ingredients of your meal at the shop, and even follow Monique's recipes (if you can read Dutch) in her cookbook. With husband Joost, the welcome is warm and the dishes very imaginative. Truly, Zierikzee and the Zeeuwse Hemel are treasures.

Poor service, the worst waiter ever found tried all her best to make our stay unpleasant. Didnât offer a menu when we arrived, after we asked we only received a part of it unlike other guests, we asked which sides were included and she explicitly mentioned bread (that never arrived but again was omnipresent in others tables). Food we ordered was just average.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem right in the middle of the Zierikzee village.Has all the qualities of a true Portuguese restaurant, vey nice owner, very decent wine list (Portuguese), a variety of Portuguese delicatessen and typical dishes.Typically decorated with nice mix of Portuguese fado, Brazilian and Afro-Portuguese background music. The service was quick and very professional and the food extremely tasty.Worth paying a visit if you like Portuguese cuisine in the appropriate ambiance.

Had a quite delicious lunch - mussels for for my wife and a chunky fish soup for me followed by crepes suzettes and flambeed cherries. The initial service was quick and efficient but it took a while to order dessert. We were driving so didn't attack the wine list. We sat outside on a mild, if not very warm sunny day. The town was absolutely full of people visiting for the fair and summer tourism. But the location of de Proeverij is away from the more crowded areas. There is a view down the canal towards the old tower and gate - very picturesque. Lovely ambience.

Classic, traditional Gastropub, which is modern at the same time. Elected as best bar in Holland 2017/2018
Last night 10 of us ate here. There is an outside are by the canal and in inside bar and dining area. We were inside. The selection of beers are substantial but most are in 25 or 33cl measures which is strange to us English. The food was very reasonable it tasted good and was on the good side of the curve on price. The let down was the service. It wasnât that it was bad, it just wasnât there. Most of the time we watched an waited to be waited on and it just didnât happen. By the time we got someoneâs attention for the bill, I was getting hungry again!Dear Martin,Thanks for visiting us and letting us know how you experienced your visit. Good to hear you liked the food. We regret that you didn't appreciate our service. We also regret that you didn't appreciate the fact that we made room for you on one of our busiest nights in the year allthough you didn't make a reservation. Concerning the measures of our beers: We know that there is a difference between (your) imperial system and (our) metric system. But to hold that against us in a TripAdvisor review...well,remarkable. Finally: Our staff made a great effort to help you. We did not hear one complaint on the night it self while we thanked everybody personally when you left. All in all: we had had another impression then you describe in your review. But I guess we misjudged that..

Took friends here for lunch it was our third visit. Previously we had found staff friendly and helpful. A table was found no problem and we sat inside. This visit however the staff were unhelpful. We were told we could not sit inside although there were tables free. A table was arranged outside, luckily the rain held off. Service was very slow. So we will be reluctant to visit again.

This place is really excellent. We were recommended to try it by our B&B host and fortunately went straight over to make a booking for the same evening.(They were really busy) We ate sitting outside on a fine evening by the canal; the location and atmosphere were perfect! The food was outstanding and the service efficient and very friendly. In two weeks of travelling round the Netherlands and Flanders this was probably our best meal. Hartelijke groeten!
