We made a reservation for dinner via Faceboook and received a confirmation that our reservation was accepted. When we showed up at the restaurant, we were told very vociferously that they do not accept reservations even though I showed them the confirmation on my phone. Not sure if it is a language miscommunication. I could see that there was a table with a reservation sign on it. Decided to change tactics and asked them for a table for 7 people and they sat me at that table. Not sure what is going on.Food was delicious, wine was good and the portions very large. The prices are extremely reasonable. Highly recommended but be careful of the reservation issue. I see another reviewer had a similar experience.

We visited for an early dinner on the recommendation of our accommodation, and were not disappointed. This restaurant specialises in local cyisine, with an emphasis on shellfish. We lived to octopus brodette (stew?) and the mixed shellfish burette. Reservations essential unless you turn up before 6:30pm like we did.

Booked a table for our last evening in Split and we were not disappointed. Two members of our party are vegetarian and they had a number of dishes to choose from. We had struggled to find veggie friendly restaurants in Split, so this was accommodating for all. We had the cheese board to start and bread with hummus. The ingredients were fresh and the homemade pesto was very flavoursome. The main courses were thoroughly enjoyed all round with a delightful crisp wine to accompany. Reasonably priced, charming ambience and attentive service.

My husband and I were on a holiday in Split and had been on a day trip to Dubrovnik getting back quite late. After a quick shower and a pre dinner drink at a local bar we went here for a pizza. We like to eat salad with our pizzas.Great meal and service was spot on.Dear Suehawthorn, thank you for your time dedicated to share your experience at Portas! Surprisingly crowded for the tail end of the season so we were a bit nervous when we walked in and were seated upstairs but service was attentive and the food was excellent quality, creative and prepared with care. It's a contemporary atmosphere, comfortable and welcoming.

An Ok restaurant, but after reading other reviews, I was expecting much better.Basically, a small menu of cheap dishes sold quite expensively to tourists who think they are getting typical Croatian food! Wine expensive but of good quality. The waiters are very friendly, charming and well versed at pleasing the tourist.Nice ambience but If you want quality food the Toro grill is much better.

So many places to choose from in Split. Most have outdoor seating, as does this place. Fairly small, great atmosphere, hip relaxed feeling. Mainly tapas style, breads, cheese, charcuterie. Sit outside and people watch. Highly recommend the olive oil ice cream - leave room for it!
