Restaurant Posthoorn, part of Suitehotel Posthoorn is located in two beautifully restored buildings from the 17th century. Upon entering you will experience the richness of the Golden Age, and you can feel the influence of prominent guests of yesteryear.
Overall just a wonderful night out. Posthoorn pays a great attention to the details of their dishes. Their ability to find that "just right" temperature in all of the meats/food they prepared is simply wonderful. What I believe to be the signature dish "Iberico Pork" is a fantastic grouping of textures and flavors. I addition we also found the Kabeljauw (cod) to be a pleasant addition to last nights menu. The fish simply melted away into your mouth. All in all, If you are passing through these beautiful towns in north holland and love a memorable meal, then certainly add Posthoorn to your map- Well done and thanks for the great bites.Thank you. Hope to see you again. Kind Regards, Marc & Team

Both this and the bar next door Gevangenpoort, are run by the same people and both are excellent . Lovely location by the canal and the old prison gates, they have an interesting menu as well as very good pizza and we had a lobvely sea bream risotto and some decent rose wine. You can walk through from the restaurant to the bar next door or sit outside in the sun in the little courtyard which joins the two. The staff are lovely and the bar has a charming old feel to it. Visited several times when we were in Edam.

We enjoyed a nice lunch of smoked salmon, smoked eel and croquets on brown bread. with a small salad - the Lunch trio. Very traditional and not something that I would have normally - but a nice meal with very good service. We were hoping to see Jan Smit, but he was out on travel!

Popped in here for a quick lunchtime snack and drink. We were attended to quickly although the toasties took a little while before coming to the table but it was worth the wait; they were delicious. The drinks, of which there was a fantastic variety, were delivered quickly. Very pleasant and friendly staff. The staggered seating meant that if you were lucky enough you could have a window seat at the front looking out to the sea.Thank you for the review.

We had lunch here after our arrival in Volendam. Random selection that worked out well. Service was poor enough but we were not too bothered as we were in no hurry and were enjoying the sun and sitting outdoors. Lunch was enjoyed by all. Nothing spectacular but did hit the spot after being up very early for a flight to Amsterdam. There are quite a few choices for eating in Volendam on the quayside but this is one of the better choices.

In the heart of Volendam, on the Embankment at the port, is our restaurant. Villagers and guests from all over the world come to enjoy our daily fine fish or meat dishes. With a beautiful panorama on the IJsselmeer is wining. Superior products, enchanting
We came in attracted by the nice menu, lively atmosphere and friendly staff. All good... only that the mussels that came to our table were closed in an unacceptable percentage (50%-60%). They were clearly not well cooked. Staff understood it, and reordered it to the kitchen, but only for 1 portion (we had ordered 2 portions, which we stopped eating immediately). The new portion was very well cooked and very nice. Unfortunately when the bill came, they tried to bill us for the 2 portions not well cooked... that was not nice. We shared our disagreement and they removed one of the two portions of the bill, so it was eventually fair, but it is not nice when you need to discuss these things, is it? Particularly with mussels, which is somehow a "risky" dish.I think we were unlucky - staff seemed nice and the other dishes seemed quite good. Other customers eating mussels did not have the same issue- as we saw. Nobody likes being the unlucky customer :-)

Eating and drinking at the harbour restaurant De Lunch is rarely a solitary experience. The tables always present a heady and fascinating mix of tourists hailing from all corners of the world, rubbing shoulders with formally attired business people, colle
After a long drive to Volendam we decided to eat out and as one of our party didn't particularly fish I had already researched the local restaurants to find one that had a good selection of non-seafood dishes and had picked De Lunch. And what a great decision that proved to be. The place itself is full of character and lots of charm and located right by the harbour. There is a good selection of dishes, seafood or otherwise and each one of them was tasty; so much so we returned 2 days later for more. Obviously the fish is a must as it is so fresh; I could have eaten there every day.The staff at De Lunch were fantastic, fast and friendly. A special big thanks to Angela and Brian who both took great care of us but all of the staff did a great job. Even knocked up a little unexpected treat for my Dads birthday.

We were at restaurant for an early dinner. Menu provided in English which was very helpful. Childrenâs options available. All dishes cooked perfectly and very much enjoyed. Very much fish focused with a few veg and meat options that suited us perfectly. Views of the marina and small sculpture garden. Staff were attentive, polite and funny. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Had the set Wednesday night menu. Food was delicious. Service was excellent. Friendly enough to allow our dog into the restaurant with us so we didn't have to sit outside in the cold. A very pleasant experience.
