There are only two basic things that you need when you are eating at an airport and I'm afraid that Giraffe only got one of them right to the point where I nearly missed my flight. The quality of my huevos rancheros was surprisingly good and on the quality of the food alone, this place would be at least 4 stars. But I waited for almost 12 minutes to be seated (and this was at 6.45am which can hardly be a peak time.) I then waited another 10 minutes for my food to arrive. The service was pretty basic - but no more than I would expect in a place like this.

This bar is only a small, but itâs still difficult to get a drink due to lack of staff working here. Over priced and uninspiring. HI, thank you for the review I think you might have the wrong outlet for this review ?

This historic coaching inn dates back to the 1700s and has been a traveller's retreat and local favourite ever since. The Saracen's Head was newly refurbished in May 2012 and is now thriving as the heart of Great Dunmow. With cozy spots near the open fire
We go here fairly regulary. Why? For several reasons. (1) It is a lovely venue, both the bar and the restaurant are inviting and well furbished. (2) The staff are brilliant! Very efficient and welcoming but friendly and chatty at the same time. (3) They currently have a very good chef. The menu is not huge and varies from time to time and if you are lucky the choice is sometimes more 'interesting' than others. I say if you are lucky because what we have seen as the more interesting items can be replaced by more run of the mill choices. That said everything that comes out of the kitchen is superb and nicely presented. The fish and the chips are the best we have ever tasted.Lunchtimes, which is when we prefer to eat out, are surprisingly quiet (except Thursdays which is Rotarians lunch) for the quality of the venue and the food and drink, not forgetting the quite reasonable prices for it all. This to my mind should be one of the most popular and humming places in Dunmow to eat or drink or both - and of course it probably is in the evenings when we have yet to visit. There are several themed evenings advertised in the bar.

Visited the Three Tuns today for lunch after reading the reviews on here. However, it did not appear open and there were no opening hours displayed nor are there any on its website. Very disappointing.

Elegant dining in the heart of Stansted Mountfitchet, offering modern French and English cuisine prepared using only the freshest produce. Relaxed atmosphere with an open kitchen, regular specials and attentive service.
Decided to eat out locally rather than have airport hotel dinner and we were not disappointed. Last minute decision so lucky to get a table as we did not book. Sampled the 2 course menu and enjoyed a crispy duck salad and mini cod bites with homemade tartare on crested peas. Followed with pan fried sea bass which was excellent.Affagato desert shared was an indulgence!Thank you ever so much for this wonderful review. We are happy we could provide you with the food and service you expected. Please do let us know what we could have done to obtain a 5* review. We hope to see you again soon.

Tim Allenâs Flitch of Bacon Inn story is full of passion & Yorkshire humour & combines exquisite food & amazing ingredients with excellent service in a friendly setting. In early 2018 Tim & his team transformed this historical grade I listed sixteenth Cen
Our first visit to The Flitch was on the day we got engaged, and before it was taken over by Tim Allen, so when one of their 3 rooms became free on our 1st wedding anniversary we booked in for the overnight package. The rooms are lovely; only criticism would be that there is very little sound proofing, and we could hear the TV in the next room until quite late, and it did disturb us slightly. Also, WiFi doesn't really get picked up in the rooms. The fresh milk and coffee machine is a great touch though. The package we purchased, includes the room, 5 course tasting menu, a bellini, signed menu from Allen, handmade chocolates plus breakfast the next morning. We upgraded to the 7 course meal, which was delightful. It was so nice to see Tim himself in the kitchen, and clearly all of the staff really take a pride in the work that they do, and the food that they produce. I have had many a bread basket, at many a Michelin star restaurant, but the bacon brioche was up there as one of the best. I genuinely could have eaten it all night! Everything was beautifully presented, there was no rush with the courses, and flavours were exquisite. The foie gras on the creedy carver duck dish was the winning dish for me, although the crispy pork jowl was my favourite overall dish. If you can fit it in, I 100% recommend the cheese course; we shared one between the 2 of us and it was so well balanced. My husband last time said that it was the best cheeseboard he had ever had in a restaurant and this one matched up. The next morning we were lucky enough to get to chat to Tim himself. We had said "thank you" briefly after a meal at the Wild Rabbit when he was there, but he came out and had a lovely chat with us. It was especially nice to see that he supports local businesses, including Great Garnetts, which is one of our favourites, and where we actually got engaged. The breakfast was also just as good as the evening meal. Some have complained there are only options of eggs or a full English, but we had no issue with this at all, as there was the wonderful brioche from the night before, plus pastries. The black pudding was out of this world, and we are now planning a trip to France just to get some! Thank you to Tim, Laura and all of the team at the Flitch for a wonderful anniversary weekend. We definitely won't leave it as long this time to return to such a local gem.

A la carte dining in the heart of market town Great Dunmow, Essex. Private hire, outside catering, cocktails and more
Just enjoyed a wonderful birthday lunch for my partner in this fab restaurant, Square 1. Fantastic service from three girls who were watching, unobtrusively, all around the restaurant to make sure nothing was amiss for the diners. Nicely laid tables, albeit minimalistic, but it worked against the dark wood background. We ordered three different roasts and they arrived together, Plates laden with succulent meats and al dente veggies, accompanied by a wonderful Yorkshire. Roast potatoes followed in ample quantity. Little pots of various sauces were put on the table. All of it delicious which was proven by the empty plates that were returned. Sweets followed of the chosen strawberry Eton Mess and waffles. All delicious. My choice was cheese board with, I will say, a home made relish to die for.The whole meal was fantastic. Service was second to none. A lovely family atmosphere as the restaurant gradually filled with families and small, well behaved, children. Nice to see.

The Vine has new leaseholders following the departure of Steve and Tanya Mann. This was our first visit since the change. It was a Saturday night, the bar was empty, the food was below average pub grub and neither of the two new leaseholders even made an appearance. Very disappointing. What are the new guys thinking, what is their plan for running a successful village pub ? Whatever it is it was not evident from our visit. This has gone from a great place to eat with a busy bar, to an empty bar with poor food. unless something changes this isn't going to last.Dear Sir, we are sorry that your visit to The Vine wasnât to your liking. The chefs that are here are actually the same as when Stephen and Tanya were here. Can I ask what food you had and what was the problem with it. As we werenât available you were more than welcome to speak to our staff and they would have sorted this out for you. Yes it was a quiet evening which happens from time to time and also there was quiz in the town hall which a lot of the village attended. Kind regards Jacque and Gerard The Vine

Enviable reputation in a great location with all the food being prepared and cooked on the premises by our award winning chef Philip Todd. Home-made dishes cooked to order and nothing is too much trouble.
One of our favourite places for lunch. This month our confidence was again rewarded with a warm welcome, good food and good service.
