Find out what European restaurants to try in Taunton. Taunton /ˈtɔːntən/ is a large regional town in Somerset, England. The town currently peaks at a population of 69,570 as of 2018. The town itself has over 1,000 years of religious and military history, including a monastery dating back to the 10th century and Taunton Castle, which has origins in the Anglo Saxon period and was later the site of a priory. The Normans then built a stone structured castle, which belonged to the Bishops of Winchester. The current heavily reconstructed buildings are the inner ward, which now houses the Museum of Somerset and the Somerset Military Museum.

Rob, Tara and staff welcome you to Podshavers Barn restaurant. We are situated at the foot of the Quantock Hills, one of Somerset's "Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty". The restaurant itself occupies an old milking shed on a dairy farm, which is on the
Went to Podshavers last week with a group of friends, not the easiest place to find and when I found myself in the middle of a farmyard then I realized I'd missed it,but eventually we found it. From the outside it didn't look that promising just a former agricultural building, but once we got inside we warmed to to the rustic decor and ambiance, what I was most impressed with was the amount of space that diners enjoy, there is lots of room between tables and the acoustics of the place were perfect not at all "boomy" like several places that I've been to recently. The food I thought was simple but very well executed, with top quality fresh ingredients and beautifully presented, the service is extremely good and very unobtrusive, other reviews I've read quibble about prices but I think that they are very fair considering the lovely food ,service and restful atmosphere, Will look forward to my next visit there.

We have extensive orchards producing figs, apples, cherries, medlars, grapes, quinces, pears, cobnuts, sweet chestnuts, walnuts, mulberries, raspberries, rhubarb, apricot and plums and of course, our herb beds. Our surplus fruits go into jam and Ice cream
2 night stay in January 2018. Lovely place, rooms very well appointed, TV, en-suite, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, bottled water - all provided and all good quality. Continental breakfast(cereals, fruits, fruit juices, cereals, tea, coffee) all very good except perhaps the muesli/granola? 8 peacocks outside the dining room taking an interest in the breakfasters. Hotel lounge is very welcoming - with wood burning stove, some comfy chairs, daily papers & magazines. Staff very good. Didn't try any afternoon / evening meals. Would have liked to have stayed longer.

Semi-smart restaurant (and some rooms) set in 7-acres. Unpretentious, good cooking, served with warmth
We went for lunch. We were the only two there - mid-week, mid-March ! It did not matter. The welcome was warm and sincere, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. It's a small menu, just three choices on the starter and main courses. One fish, one meat and one vegetarian. All sounded good. I had the meat and fish, my wife had the fish and meat. The food was delicious, beautifully cooked and presented and tasted divine. No room for puddings but coffee back in the comfortable and relaxed large "Drawing Room". Interesting wine list covering most price points. Good wines available by the glass. Canapes with drinks were unusual and delicious. The restaurant is in a beautiful old small Manor House set in delightful grounds. We are fairly new to the area and this will definitely become one of our favourite places. Strongly recommend.

Portuguese restaraunt. Serving traditional espetadas. Made famous by the festivals on the island of Madeira. A family run business. Based around the concept of sharing.
Wellington Squash Club played host to Abergavenny this evening and we held our post match dinner at the Skewerhouse. From first contact with the restaurant to leaving the door they were faultless. Great food, great service, great communication, I highly recommend a visit.

We booked last minute on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews. We had to take an early booking as they were fully booked but that suited us anyway. The staff were extremely attentive and informative. Nothing was too much trouble, children were welcome too. Even early on Saturday evening there were plenty of tables being used. The food was absolutely delicious and it is all cooked to order. If you want authentic Italian cuisine then try here. Not much to look at from the outside, and inside is more in typical cafe style but when the service and food is 5* that really doesn't matter.
