Plevna is a restaurant located in the old Finlayson factory in Tampere. As that, it is one very long room layered into two tiers with tables, and the bar/kitchen on the lower side. There are lots of booths and tables in between, everything made of old wood. It has a nice, old European feel to it, with shelves of beer glasses and steins in front of the ceiling-high windows that face the street. As with every place in Tampere, you will need to make a reservation to come to eat at Plevna, and making it int he same day might mean you get a table for 8 pm so be aware: the place is popular. The staff are very friendly and direct. The moment we sat our server suggested we try and order as fast as possible, because the kitchen was very, very busy and it might take some time to get the food. The beers and meads at Plevna are numbered and they're quite good. We tried the wheat beer, the bock, and the mead. They're all house made and they have that true feel of small brewery, they're very distinct. The food is limited but very well made. We were running late so I ordered the house burger only they didn't have burgers (no idea how a restaurant can be out of burgers but they were, so that was a minus for me) and since I didn't want chicken I opted for a steak with baked root vegetables and potato medallions. The food came sooner than expected based on what they'd told us, and it was very good. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and so were the vegetables, which were still solid and flavorful but perfectly cooked through and seasoned. I was not that impressed with the potato medallions, as they tasted greasy to me. If you're going for desserts try the homemade blackcurrant cider ice cream. The lemon muffin-cake that accompanies isn't writing home about -it was quite dry-, but its flavor worked as a great offset for the ice cream, which was very sweet. It has a very unique flavor, it was refreshing and very, very tasty. It could be less sweet, or the lemon cake more tart, and it would work better but it's still a very nice experience. The staff were quick, efficient and friendly. They did things with humor, which was nice. One thing we did notice and we'd like to pint out to the management of this locale was about every single small, empty table that stood between the booths with the "reserved" mark on them. It was clear to us from our one vist that these tables were kept "reserved" while they weren't, as having them empty helped the staff walk between them with large tables of drinks and food. And that was fine. But we aso so many prospective diners walk by looking for a table and commenting there was nothing at seeing all these empty, reserved tables. Please consider removing those tables, or at least using some of them for actual diners, as it looked awkward and we heard other diners comment on the same fact. Other than that, a very nice place, great food, great drinks, nice atmosphere.

I've had dinner in Bertha around 7 times. I do have somehow mixed feelings about their food, though. I've had dinners so excellent, I've literally almost teared up because the food was JUST SO GOOD! Imagine this, almost crying because the food + wine combination is just so perfect! It's not something you get to experience every day. Then some other times, the food has just been so strange, I don't know what to think about it. Those times it feels like they have chosen the weirdest ingredients possible just to be cool and hip and different, but forgot that it should also taste good. Their food is definitely never boring, but I've noticed that the food varies a lot from visit to visit. Luckily they update their menu often. We always choose the wine menu to go with the food, the wines have been excellent.

A quick search in TA under steakhouses and this beauty came out. As a solo traveller itâs sometimes seen as weird to go out to dine. The waiter was very polite and attentive due to me being Welsh and not Finnish. My food came a little time later after dribbling watching other tables receive theirs. I watched the meat get handled, cooked, flame grilled, sliced and served. And boy it was right on. Perfectly cooked, perfectly pink, and perfectly washing down with Heineken. I would 100% come back.

The Ravintola Tampella is located in an old textile mill, with a river close by. Nicely renovated and seats quite a lot of people. On a Tuesday in January it was quite calm. The meny is high grade and the service very professional. This is a place to bring important business guests (which I guess we where...). A steak cooked to perfection tasted perfect. Entrée, main and dessert where well matched with not too much on the plate. I would advice to take a full three meal course. This was overall the best dinner I have had in several years.

We went there with 14 people, and called before naturally. Place is quite small but architecture is awesome. There were enough of options in menu and every dish got lots of Compliments. Price range is very good ( beef tenderloin 28â¬) and the food comes from many different places. High recommendation for this!!!

In Tamperelainen -newspaper this was voted as the best restaurant in Tampere. Well, we donât fully agree with that, but our visit was what we expected as weâve been here before. It was a nice surprise that there was hardly any queue on a weekday at early afternoon. Therefore getting the food took surprisingly long. Salad buffet is quite basic but the dressings are very good! You might try the blue cheese dressing also with your pizza crust! Pizzas vere tasty, nice that the parma ham also visited the oven and was very crispy. Staff was friendly.

All the other positive reviews are 100% correct. No point in repeating everything here. I have often been disappointed in Finnish "fine dining" places but not here. Superb food made using local ingredients, really friendly and professional service and as many have mentioned, the wine pairings are brilliant. Last but not the least, it is all reasonably priced, including the wines, which is not easy to find in Finland. Hope to visit again soon!!!

Enjoyed excellent meal here with my spouse! We had the sword with game and it was delicious and actually served on a little "sword"! Meat was so well prepared that it was just melting in mouth. Desserts were also great and pot of coffee made the dinner perfect! They're own honey beer was great company for the food! The interior decorations are nicely rough as this is a viking style restaurant. Sturdy tables and chairs complete the look and waitress are dressed in viking style.

My wife and I had our 16th anniversary dinner here, joined by her son. The portions are small, but enough to satisfy. The food was well prepare, attractively plated, and a taste delight.Service is efficient and friendly. I had pork loin, and my wife had broiled sika---Finnish whitefish. I don't remember what her son had. Dinner for 3, a bottle of wine, pre-meal drinks, and 2 shared desserts, totaled about 130 Euros.Thank you for your lovely review. We are happy to hear that your visit in our restaurant was pleasant. We wish to see you again in Kattila!

Far beyond a place for dinner. Our 4.5 hours there was an amazing experience filled with the most divinely unique food preparations complemented by wonderful wine pairings. Marco's honest and passionate excitement behind the details of each drew us all in and made us twitch in anticipation for the next taste. It was a spectacular evening. One I will never forget and one I will hold as a point of comparison going forward.
