Went to Restaurant 1861 for a family dinner on Easter Sunday, I usually don't go out on popular days like that as alot of the time I find the food isn't as good but yet again this restaurant never disappoints - what an incredible meal! We each had 3 courses and the food was simply sublime, again special mention for the prawn starter which is beyond doubt the most delicious prawn dish on the planet. The lamb shank was perfectly cooked, just falling off the bone and the salmon which my daughter had was apparently the nicest salmon dish she has tasted. 3 desserts of lemon pooset, hot chocolate brownie and honeycomb cheesecake were the icing on a perfect meal.Sharon, Leah and Caleb are all so friendly & did a great job of attending our table regularly & ensuring we had everything we needed. You never feel rushed, they leave just the right gap between courses. The restaurant is lovely and warm, there is a nice relaxed atmosphere & the big picture windows looking out on the lovely sheltered courtyard (where you can also dine Al Fresco) brings the beautiful mature trees and shrubbery that bit closer. All in all, yet another perfect dining experience in Restaurant 1861, its a little hidden gem in Sion Mills that you most definitely should put top of your list of fabulous Tyrone eateries and so worthy of the recent awards they won from the Irish Restaurant Awards. Keep up the great work everyone!

Great food and excellent staff manning the take out section! Efficient order-taking and food worth waiting for. Sometimes when busy, you might have to wait a bit but worth it. Maybe a wee bit on the expensive side compared to other takeaways in the town but the food more than compensates for this.
