Discover Restaurants offering the best European food in Soweto, Johannesburg, Gauteng. An acronym for South Western Townships, Soweto was dubbed as such in 1963. The area began in the late 19th century as a temporary neighborhood for gold mine workers, then later became a black Johannesburg ghetto with forced apartheid settlement. In 1976, Soweto garnered international headlines with its deadly uprising against Afrikaans-only language education. The Mandela Family Museum and the recently restored Credo Mutwa Village (with its Zulu and Sotho homesteads) are two can't-miss sights.

Very disappointing meal at exorbitant prices ( value for money) Pasta was penne from the packet and the sauce was heated salty cream and some bacon was thrown on top. I had better meals from a packet. This restaurant is in Melville, we should have known better because the place was almost empty when we arrived and left. I was not in the mood to complain after a 600km drive. I sincerely hope they will pull up their socks.

Very pleased I stopped by here for a casual supper whilst staying at the hotel. The service was great - friendly and efficient. I ordered a steak, which was served, cooked as requested in next to no time. Well worth a visit if at the casino!

Visited them , we were seven seated. We ordered three pizzas , 01 burger and 03 steaks from the menus .The three pizzas arrived at the same time , nearly 05 minutes later the steaks and about 05 minutes later the one burger . Everyone was happy with their food . When one goes out for supper the aim is to enjoy all the food at the same time and together. The planning should have been better to ensure all get their food at the same time. I was much disappointed in my pizza , , their was not much crumbed fetta , I ordered extra mushrooms but could hardly find them . With pricing at this establishment being what they are there should be no need to be skimpy.Don't think I will visit them again if the choice depends on me

Run by the Da Cunha Family.
Fun ambiance and service superb. That doesnât make up for fact fish was rubbery and not properly cooked. Seasoning was uneventful. Hoped for more peri peri taste although they had sauce in table. Not the same as grilled with sauce. Liver starter excellent. Also excellent security getting in and out from street. Sketchy neighborhood way off the grid. Take taxi not safe.

The Warehouse is listed under the "Features" tab - it is the inhouse restaurant at the Protea OR Tambo Hotel
The Warehouse is the in-house restaurant at the Protea Hotel Or Tambo. They have very cool aircraft-styled décor and the result is a nice atmosphere. Windows along one side overlook the hotel grounds, with planes visible in the sky as they take off and land at the airport. I got room service for dinner, which is the same food that they serve in The Warehouse, and it was excellent â a lovely Chicken Linguine that was both very tasty and quite reasonably priced. The breakfast I had the following morning was also very tasty, with a huge range of hot and cold foods available. Overall the quality of the food was excellent. What was strange was that the breakfast was very expensive, almost twice the price of my dinner. It was also excessive â the spread was excellent, but it was clearly a way for the hotel to trap unsuspecting visitors. My recommendation would be to take the free shuttle to the airport and eat there â even with standard airport overcharging you will find a cheaper meal of a similar standard. So that was my little gripe over. I was happy with the restaurant and the food was excellent â just watch the bill, and if the buffet breakfast seems too good to be true, that is because it is. Otherwise I would rate the restaurant an excellent 5-stars, but their greed costs them a few points.

This restaurant doesn't immediately attract one's attention from the outside, and it's not located in a great area, but if anyone recommends that you go, or if you're looking for great Portuguese food, do so. The food is really great, especially the trinchado. The peri peri sauce they serve with the bread is so more-ish I had to buy a bottle to go. There is no great ambiance or decor at this restaurant, but their food is really excellent. The warm towels for wiping your hands adds a nice touch. There is outdoor seating and a covered over stoep in addition to the indoor seating in the formal restaurant area, so something for everyone.
While proudly South African, Nando's is an international flame-grilling, PERi-PERi chicken restaurant group We offer a twist of Afro-Portuguese with an upmarket and comfortable dining experience The first Nando's was opened in 1987 in Johannesburg, South
On the 9 January 2019, my colleagues and I decided to have lunch at the Nandos in Maponya Mall. Most of us were seated by 10:30, however there were a few colleagues who arrived late. Our waitress took our orders. We waited and waited for our drinks and had to ask our waitress three times. The drinks eventually arrived after we had almost completed our meal. Our food arrived more than an hour after we had placed the order. I would like to hope that this was because we were a big group and that they first prepared all the food before delivering it all at once to our table. For the most part our waitress seemed overwhelmed. At no stage did a manager come around to find out if we were happy or if there was anything we were dissatisfied with or to get someone to help our overwhelmed waitress, who had to single handedly serve at least 20 people. My one colleague and I were the only vegetarians, so we ordered the veggie burger combo which consisted of the veggie burger, chips and a drink. Mine had a part of the pattie that was stone hard, donât think it was defrosted completely. I therefore could not eat the entire burger. I donât think this branch of Nandos gets many vegetarian customers and therefore the standard of vegetarian food is very poor. In total I paid R81 for the meal. The service on the whole was terrible. To have to ask the waitress 3 times for the drinks is unacceptable and for the drinks to arrive at the end of the meal is also unacceptable. I understand that we were a large party, but the manager should have ensured that our waitress was given assistance, by having at least 2 other waitresses helping her to serve the food and take the orders. I will never ever eat at this branch of Nandos and will never recommend it to anyone who is a vegetarian.

No matter what you order, it will be exceptional. I had the steak and wanted to write a poem about it :) Cozy decor with a lovely comfortable outside couch for smoking.
