We went to this place at around 14:00, looking for some snacks. As we arrived, there was no one at the bar first. A minute later one of the staff came from the back area and we asked, if we could still have some snacks. Wordless we were brought to a small side room with tables and some locals having a meal. Unfortunately the patio was not opened despite the good and warm weather.I donât know, if it was our lack of speaking Portuguese, the time of our arrival or the fact that we only ordered snacks, but we were served with the minimum amount of communication which made us feel not very welcomed. However, the tuna sandwich, the fried shrimps and the coffee were actually pretty good. I would give the place a second chance.
The Host is very nice and kind! The apartment was super humid. All our clothes were wet for the humidity and it had a bad smell! The home made cookies we buyed were covered with mold!!!

The service at Montanha was absolutely terrible. We were a group of 5, 4 adults and an 11 year old. We walked and were greeted immediately and were told we would have to sit outside. That was fine with us. A male water came over and asked what we wanted for drinks. We were new to Pico and wanted to try the wine we had heard so much about. We asked for a local red, the waiter said we donât have any. I opened the wine list and pointed to several reds from Pico. He told us we donât have those. Then I asked for a local white. He pointed to 3 bottles, the three most expensive bottles and said âthatâs all I haveâ. I asked about the others, he said âwe have a new menu but didnât change it yetâ. Ok, we will take the white. One person ordered Orange Fanta, and he never asked the other two people what they wanted. This guy was clearly not happy with us, as his attitude was terrible. We ordered two âstartersâ; the cheese plate and the breaded octopus. Next a girl came over to ask if anyone had been over yet. We gave her the order for the two people the guy ignored; a coke. A few minutes later the guy came back with our bread and cheese and yelled at the girl in Portuguese that was helping us. She stormed off. We never got the coke, never got the octopus. When the cheese and bread arrived we had no utensils. After waiting for a while we took them from the table next to us. Now, itâs time to order our food....One in our party orders the mixed grill....the waiter says we donât have that. So he orders something else, he says we donât have that, he orders something else, we donât have that....I am not making this up. The first 3 things he ordered he was told they did not have. But, we all heard the table next to us order the mix grill 10 minutes later. Then the waiter comes around and says âwe donât have any orange only passion fruitâ. Ok, my husband says I guess Iâll have passion fruit. When the coke never arrived, my husband goes inside, and gets a coke and orange Fanta out of the fridge. Then the bill comes. The octopus was not on it, but we when paid with our credit card, then the girl comes back and says they are cash only. There is nothing, anywhere that says cash only. So now for the food. We all had steak of some sort; when we ordered we were asked if we want medium rare or well done. None of us got what we asked for as far as cooking temperature. The steak was very very tough. I canât recommend the food at all. The chips were bland and nothing more than what comes out of a bag. Overall this was a terrible experience. I donât think I have ever had a server with such a bad attitude and so unwelcoming. I donât know if the guy that waited on us was a manager or a server, but he is going to ruin this business eventually.

There are so many wonderful things to say about this cliff restaurant. Paula(Owner) and her amazing cook put together unique, one of a kind, homemade dishes. Most of the items are grown locally or caught fresh from the sea.. it is seasonal and open from 12pm til 10pm daily June -August. It is a cozy place adjacent to a park with incredible ocean below.. Prices are reasonable for the amazing food and conversation.

Grocery and Bistro Bar. Coffee and Tea House. Grocery store with organic and fairtrade foods and products. Serves and sells organic coffee, tea, herbal teas and other infusions. Serves from simple menus to go with the afternoon tea to healthy and complete
Went with the girlfriend for lunch. We tried different things from the menu! The soup of the day was very good as well as the cod fish "nata" with salad. But the star was the hamburger with a special bread. One of the best burguers I've tried. This of course with some good beer! For the desert my girlfriend loved the chocolate cake with Oreo ice cream. We had a lot of teas and coffee to choose. The expresso was great! And because this bar was also a grocery store, the best part is that you can buy what you liked! It sells mainly organic products! We took some coffee and azorean tea! Not a big restaurant as we usually see. More like a grocery store who serves lunch! The food was great and at a good price. I will recommend it to everyone!

My husband and I were staying in town and since Magma was <5-minute drive from our house, we decided to stop in for dinner on a Sunday evening. Although we did not have reservations, we were easily seated around 7:30pm. We found all of the food to be delicious! We shared a carafe of red sangria and an appetizer of local sausages. We also received a basket of all types of local bread and for our mains my husband had the steak and I had the tuna. As we were eating dinner, we had a superb view of the sunset over the coast. Note there is a small market in the front of the restaurant if you needed water, milk, juice, bread, etc. in a pinch. Parking can be a bit difficult at the restaurant in situated on a very steep road and there is no separate parking lot, you just park along the road where you can find a spot. The meal is definitely worth it though!
