Really friendly service! But the dish of the day was a steak which was totally over cooked....but the soup, bread and fries and rice made up for it. Plus with a large bottle of water came to 16.60â¬. Wish we spoke some Portuguese so we could have told the waitress we wanted medium rare. Fun getting the local dish of the day.

When you get in the front door, there is a counter for take out; the sit down restaurant is behind another door, in the back of the building. Simple setting, clean. The owner was quite pleasant; we had the regional sausage and blood pudding dishes - both home made; they were very good, generous portions. Wine list was fine, some reserve wines listed. We were the only tourists. Reasonable prices; recommended. There is a supermarket next door; handy to bring provisions back to our rental.

Friendly place but very basic and 'tasca' like restaurant. Far from fancy and prices lower than most restaurants in vicinity specially if you order the dish of the day (5,5 EUR) The owner even went on to buy fresh fish on our request. Bravo! Will come back for sure!
We were looking forward a âniceâ dinner with great atmosphere. Place and location were nice. Walked in there was no one there. Server had a chip on her shoulder telling where to sit. We were 5 and it threw her off because tables were set for 4 Menu was short but worse was every plate we choose they had ran out. We tried to make the best of it. When we got our bill my mom wanted to treat us, and this was what made us upset, my mom gives the server her Portuguese debit card, she tells us cash only our debit machine is broken. We didnât have 140⬠on us. I went to the ATM and got money. This is wrong, as soon we got there we shouldâve been told âDebit machie isnât working, itâs cash only todayâ. We wouldâve gone to get money right the. And there not when the customer hands you their card. This place will be closed mid winter. Disappointed

The only restaurant on the island we have seen and visited during 24 hours stay on Graciosa.Tasty food and friendly service accompanied our dinner. Dinner for two including starters, main course, bottle of red wine and water cost us EUR 34Very nice place!

As promised, we returned to this restaurant a couple of more times. I never did get the pasta, instead letting the chef choose what was fresh that day. Wonderful fish with plenty of accompaniments, tasty beefsteak, fado music in the background and lovely people.Take the time and effort to find this place.
TripAdvisor didn't list any restaurants in Praia at the time, only some in the town a couple of miles away. We found this one opposite the entrance to the beach and booked a table for later in the evening. The waitress struggled to smile, but service was OK, just a little unfriendly. It doesn't look much from outside, but does have a nice dining room inside the building (well hidden). Local dishes of fish and meat mostly. My companions had a variety of chorizo and sausages to start and I had the local cheese which was nice. Standard omelette for the main course for me and steaks for everyone else. They all enjoyed their food and mine was OK. Again very little for non-meat eaters, but on the plus side the whole meal with wine was pretty cheap.

Stopped off for lunch. Plenty of traditional Portuguese food, nothing for vegetarians. We sat on the balcony overlooking the spa and the coast and it is a pleasant spot to spend time. The waitress was friendly enough and service was OK. I didn't eat an awful lot so it is hard to rate the food. My companions had various meat dishes and they said that they were all good.Apart from the views, it's similar to most of the other local restaurants on the islands. Nothing special.

Just for the record. This restaurant is actually in S.Mateus/Praia and not in Santa Cruz. The location is spot right in front of the sea but you don't see it because of a wall that protects the street from the high waves. We found the space ok with it's two different back rooms. Nothing fancy but that was not our expectation. The service was really specials. There is an extremely nice lady that rally gives very good smiling service. As most of the day specials were no longer available we ordered the Red Fish assuming it would a good option given the location. It was indeed. Very good and served with a nice variety of vegetables. The price was not on the menu. After ordering we were told the fish were big and if we thought ne would be enough for two. We ordered that one fish which was, let me say it again very good. In the end we paid over forty euros (with 2 cokes and 1 desert). It was expensive but then most things on the islands are way over priced and we were aware of that. Now, reading previous reviewers we realise that this "fish by the kilo" seems to be a routine...Anyway there aren't many options here...so...but it was definitely too much for what we had...in spite of the good service.
