Located in the northern limits of the city center, this restaurant is accomodated in a former private typical townhouse of Nantes. If you're looking for a dinner better than average, if you have a car, and not willing to drive into the city center that becomes almost inaccessible for cars, then L'Abelia is a nice option. A car park has been organized in the garden, but surprisingly it is almost always full, probably used by the staff of the restaurant. Now, the food menu features the local specialities including fish with "beurre blanc" gravy, duck, but also foie gras from south west France... The atmosphere is formal, but not too much so that you feel easily comfortable.

Very rarely do I give 5 stars but the atmosphere and food were great. The host who looks like serpico entertained us from start to end. No menu but great Italian food and wine kept coming.

After difficult in finding a restaurant open in Nantes on an August Monday evening we were rather trepidatious. We needn't have worried. This is a place that serves generous portions of really nice food. Rustic and modern rather than nouvelle. Brilliant foie gras, amazing chutneys, fish cooked perfectly. Staff offered excellent suggestions for wine with each course. The room was buzzing, everyone was relaxed and eating happily. Staff rather hard pressed but consistently pleasant. We felt our apparent 'lack of choice' had been a stroke of good luck.

The chef decides the meal every day and calls it the Mystery meal. You will not know what you are getting next until it arrives in front of you. The food is beautifully composed and delicious. It was a seafood starter and entree with a pineapple panna cotta for dessert. All of it was very good and a great value. I think 19 Euros for 3 courses. Well of course I had to have a glass of Muscadet too ;)

We were very impressed with this little restaurant. I had the two-course lunch of two different preparations of tender veal with vegetables and a luscious dessert of nut creme-filled profiteroles made from scratch by their pastry chef. Both dishes were outstanding. My husband had a veal starter and a super pasta dish with a variety of mushrooms, yogurt and dill. British Chef Dominic came out and explained to us what we were eating so that made it extra special. The house red wine was also very nice. Donât miss it when you are in Nantes!

We were staying 2 nights at Nantes camping and took the tram into the centre. After a walk round the Chateau des Ducs De Bretagne and the cathedral we took the green walking route de Leon Blum and although we were heading for another restaurant we stopped to eat at the L'Ardoise. It's a small restaurant with a set lunch 18⬠for 3 courses and we paid an extra 2⬠for the cafe gormaund. Service was good and the food was well presented and had a slight Asian flavour to the main dishes. I had the salmon which was really nice and my husband had the entrecote Thai style. I love cafe gormaund and although not the best I have had was ok - 7 out of 10. We really enjoyed our meal and with a carafe of wine we paid 50⬠- about right for a city lunch.
