Having drawn a blank when looking for an evening meal in Villamblard we ventured aimlessly into the neighbouring forests and with so few signs of life started to ponder a night of hunger. Dumb luck led us to Jaure and Auberge where the accommodating owner fed us handsomely despite already having a private party to serve. The food was very good - We both enjoyed snails Provençal and a beautifully cooked steak before perfect profiteroles. The village is lovely and auberge is perfectly situated to enjoy the serene vista. So if you're anywhere near Jaure and in particular in foodless Villamblard I can't recommend auberge highly enough - so good we went there twice.

Visited today and only people there as it was a Saturday but still worth the visit with friends who live locally, the best meal for the price and service excellent, would not hesitate to visit again when we are in the Dordogne. Highly recommend this restaurant to any visitor to the area.

I had the chance to go there a couple of times while being in Périgueux. Christophe and his team welcome you in a familial venue, always smiling and ready to go the extra mile in order to go beyond your expectations. The Chef uses fresh regional products in inventive combinations and has delicious specials such as the revisited tiramisu. It is a perfect place to treat yourself, friends and family to delicious feel good comfort food!

My husband and I are lucky enough to have a house in Neuvic where this restaurant is. We have eaten here often and have never been disappointed. The lunchtime set menu is great value and often showcases regional dishes, which are delicious. They also do really good quality pizza. Well worth a visit, especially at lunchtime.

We have had two meals here, menu du jour at lunch time and a more sophisticated meal in the evening. The restaurant is owned and run by a lovely young couple, latterly of the Michelin starred Pressoir DâArgent in Bordeaux, one of Gordon Ramseyâs restaurants...Abel has also trained with Guy Savoy....So as protégés of these amazing chefs the couple have created their new restaurant in this quiet corner of Périgord. We were very impressed, some interesting variations on French classics and some wonderful flavours. As part time residents of the area we are thrilled that there is a new restaurant of this standard...and we envisage becoming regulars. Most of the restaurants in Neuvic are great (see my other reviews) but Cilaos stands out as there is some real imagination in their dishes...If you are nearby I urge you to eat here, you will not be disappointed.

We had lunch here mid- week in February and the restaurant was nearly full. We had a four course meal for â¬12.50 - soup, salad buffet, main dish and dessert. The service was friendly and efficient and the meal was excellent value for money. Our dog was made to feel welcome as well.

We visited this restaurant a few times while staying in the Dordogne (Coursac), both for lunch and for dinner and it is always a pleasure. The hostess Floriane (owner) is very friendly and entertaining (english speaking), while her husband (the chef) creates delicious "Cuisine de Tradition" . For example the "Salade Chapeau Rouge" is highly recommended. If you choose a menu the prices are friendly in relation to the quality. Lunch or dinner outside in the warmer months is a pleasure. The interior of the restaurant may not be very cosy, but all is forgotten by the delicious food and friendly staff. There's one Pomerol on the wine-menu (I forgot the Chateau, but it is around 28,= per bottle) that is truly delicious with "Margret de Canard" or "Entrecôte". According to my friends the fish is fantastic too. I am looking forward to visit Chapeau Rouge again next time !
