Reviews on European food in Ryde, England, United Kingdom. Ryde is an English seaside town and civil parish on the Isle of Wight, with a population of 23,999 at the 2011 Census. It lies on the north-east coast. The town grew in size as a seaside resort after the villages of Upper Ryde and Lower Ryde were merged in the 19th century. The influence of this era is still strongly visible in the town's central and seafront architecture.

Based in the heart of Bembridge village, Lockslane is a small and intimate restaurant, seating a maximum of 20 guests. We buy local where we can, with our fish, meat and majority of our fruit and veg coming from right here in the village. We are open Wedn
First visit since change of owners. Retains its intimate atmosphere and service is perfect and welcoming. The food is well cooked, but somehow lacks the lightness of touch of the previous chef and presentation is only average. A much more rustic style. Feels a little like a talented chef playing it too safe.Only other issue is the placement of the coat hooks directly outside the open kitchen. Having coats dry cleaned to eliminate odours is quite an overhead!Remains a cut above any restaurant in the East Wight and, with some small tweaks, has the potential to rival the best on the island. We will return. Recommended. Many thanks for your review, weâre glad you enjoyed your evening with us and hope to see you again next time. With regards to the coat hooks, it is an issue that we are aware of, and are in the process of remedying. Many thanks,R&J

The Duck is a modern, British Restaurant on the Isle of Wight, specialising in using locally sourced produce. We serve contemporary dishes with a twist at lunch and dinner. We also have The Emporium upstairs where we sell the best product from The Isle of
The starters were good and well-presented but not feeling terribly hungry (and recovering from a respiratory bug) we opted for the vegetarian linguine and the vegan aubergine main courses. My partner reported that the linguine was rather tasteless while my aubergine was pretty terrible unfortunately. Simply baking an aubergine without any seasoning and serving it with vegetable accompaniments really is not on. If it were not for the minted crushed peas there would have been little taste at all. Both dishes appear to have been a carnivore's idea of what a vegetarian eats. It's a shame as the restaurant has a very pleasant interior and the staff are professional and attentive. While I can't vouch for the quality of the other dishes, these days the quality of the vegetarian ones really does need to be good. There are no excuses. As others have noted, the restaurant is hot. The evening we were there it was stuffy with all the windows tightly shut so really uncomfortable. When I commented on this to the waitress when I paid, she agreed. So why not do something about it?!

Mediterranean inspired homemade food and local produce , cooked to the highest level in a stunning little Mediterranean bistro . Breakfast , lunch and dinner all cooked with a twist and the best the island has to offer
Slightly bleak, distant lady in charge here. But the breakfast was decent. You can compile your own breakfast from the menu. So I had two fried eggs, black pudding, tomatoes, mushrooms, and brown toast. It was beautifully presented, the highlight being the tasty little red and yellow tomatoes, cooked just right. The fried eggs were a bit hard, though, which is often the way. With a cappuccino and a tea, price was £12.00 odd.The ethos of the small unit was Italian, though without Italian friendliness. The look of the place was good, but the floor wasn't that clean and the table felt a bit sticky. In any case, I left happy with the breakfast and fuelled for my hike.

It is a very elegant restaurant, cute outside and very cosy inside, tables are very posh and accurately dressed with silver cutlery, the atmosphere is enchanting, music volume is soft and tracks are perfect. Food is delicious. Fish was fresh and tasty. Staff is polite and welcoming. Inside the toilet there are proper cloth hand towels, to dispose inside a basket and there is a perfume too! The best restaurant on the Isle of Wight!Wow! That's a fantastic review! Thank you very much!

We had a wonderful evening celebrating my husbandâs birthday thanks to delicious food and great service - exactly the sort of place weâd hoped to find! Great choice of food to suit our various tastes and brilliant wine -plus the service is friendly and unobtrusive. I had been wary of asking whether I could take a Birthday cake in (having read an article by a famous chef complaining that this affected his sales of desserts), but when I phoned to book, I was asked whether Iâd like to take one in - so kind - and we appreciated the singing! We had a great evening and will definitely be back next time weâre on the Island; thank you.

We booked Thompson's based on an internet search and reading TripAdvisor reviews, as we live in the north of England. We'd had a lovely day with beautiful summery weather and a trip to Osborne, and our visit to Thompson's rounded off our visit beautifully. We had the tasting menu, which was superb in every respect. All staff were friendly, relaxed and very knowledgeable. The food was beautifully presented and prepared, and also gave us an opportunity to try things we wouldn't attempt at home, such as cuttlefish 'tagliatelle'. I mentioned to the waitress that I wasn't a big fan of parmesan, but it wasn't a particular issue, and voila, the kitchen staff made sure my meal was tailored to my tastes, even preparing some gnocchi to replace an element of one dish. Oh, and the we have to mention the quirky cutlery, the good quality Riedel glasses ( yes, we use them at home ), and the complimentary amuse buche and pre-ssert.

Alacarte restaurant in Newport offering a selection of local fish and seafood and great steaks. An upmarket restaurant with an emphasis on customer service and attention to detail with crisp linen table cloths and napkins.
We followed a recommendation and a group of 7 of us had a great night out at Burrâs after walking a section of the coastal path from Freshwater Bay to Totland Bay. The food is a classic European style with a lot of fresh fish featured on the specials board the night we were there, although we generally ate from the set menu option. The crab and spinach brûlée starter is a signature dish I understand and was enjoyed by the 3 of us who had it.Our waiter guided us excellently through the menu and suggested wines we all enjoyed. An excellent choice of restaurant for our group. I shall come again. Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review of the restaurant. I'm glad you enjoyed your evening
