Things to do in Priego de Cordoba
This elegant hotel /museum is delightfully tranquil and gentile. I have lunched and enjoyed drinks and tapas in the courtyard gardens. For lunch I had duck breast with roast apple. It was delicious, though I would have liked some more vegetables with mine but this is normal for Spain. I am not sure why other reviewers expect the staff to speak English as this is deep inland Andalucia not the Costas.

We arrived in this prosperous hill-top town after the Saturday shopping rush was over and everyone was heading to the bars on the Romeria's Ruta de Tapas. Our map listed each bar and food specialty where tapa and a drink cost 2-3 euro during the festivitiesWe'd read about the café run by Hotel Zahori providing generous and warm hospitality. Besides, who could be unhappy with the view of the church and fountain surrounded by geraniumsWe were given a tapas with our drinks then ordered a racione of fried calamari. Remembering the ruta de tapas celebration we pointed out Zahori wasn't on our map but our waiter shared the festive spirit by offering us fried seafood on squid ink tapa, followed by another tapa to accompany our third round of drinks!

We stopped for a coffee while walking around the Old Town. The cafe looks over a pretty flower filled park, with the Castillo being right alongside it.

This beautifully sited restaurant ( the balcony overlooks a lovely valley!) serves food that is just delicious! We had the lamb chops which were so succulent! The wine was very good and reasonably priced. The table service was courteous and discreet. Definitely a restaurant to re-visit.

Tim, our host at Casa Olea suggested we lunch at this gastrobar during our visit to Priego de Córdoba. We loved the food and wine. The menu consists of all the favorite traditional tapas but with a difference. There were fusion dishes with an element of Japanese cuisine too, and all very well conceived and tasty. The gazpacho was delicious and served in martini glasses. The croquettes and tostas were amazing too. The town of Priego de Córdoba with its quaint streets and beautiful churches is definitely worth a visit and when there, a meal at Zyrah is an absolute must.
