Porthleven (/ˌpɔːrθˈlɛvən/) is a town, civil parish and fishing port near Helston in Cornwall. It is the most southerly port on the island of Great Britain, and was originally developed as a harbour of refuge, when this part of the Cornish coastline was recognised as a black spot for wrecks in days of sail. Nearby Loe Bar was particularly infamous, with swimmers and surfers being warned off the area. Porthleven has many large areas of social and council housing. An electoral ward called Porthleven and Helston South also exists. The population at the 2011 census was 3,059.

Brilliant café, just what we needed. Friendly faces welcomed us and the dog inside. Best flat white coffee of the week and delicious light scones. We returned for a late lunch: again beautifully light bread for the sandwiches, delicious fillings (cheddar with onion marmalade and Cornish Brie with apple chutney) and just the right portion of side salad.

Excellent tasty beautifully presented inventive food for supper. One of the best desserts I have ever had, strawberry ice cream covering fig leaf sorbet with hazelnuts, and fresh strawberry pieces. Couldnât recommend more highly. Lovely friendly staff. Thank you for this great review. I'm definitely going up to try this pudding now!

Tucked away in the old quarter of Penzance, The Cornish Barn is a rustic restaurant, bar and smokehouse in Penzance serving a wholesome menu with a focus on fresh Cornish produce â all helped along by craft beers and wines from local independent vineyards
We had drinks here one night, and came back the next night for dinner. We loved the warm, cosy decor, good choice of drinks and pretty good food. The only thing that wasnât great was the service; a lot of errors both times, the staff were friendly but lacked professionalism. They forgot to bring menus and to seat us in the restaurant until well after the reservation time, and every drinks order was messed up. All in all, however, we forgave the slapdash service because the ambiance and food made up for it. We would go again if we were in the area.Good evening honeyHenleyonThames,Thank you for your time writing this review.I am happy to hear that you loved the atmosphere of the Restaurant, and I will be sure to pass on your comments about the food on to the kitchen.I am sorry that the service was not to the standards that you wanted. Serving simple, honest food, made with the best ingredients, CAST Cafe is a bright and airy space set within the historic CAST building in Helston - formerly a school, now run as an artists' studios complex and contemporary art hub.
Following a friend's recemmendation, I called here for lunch on a bitterly cold day.On entering the cafe, I was impressed by how light, airy and warm it was, with a log burning stove providing welcome heat, and tables well set out with plenty of room between them. A blackboard behind the counter displayed the day's selection of seasonal lunches. Although there were only three choices of main course, they all looked appetising. I chose the chicken and leek pie, with carrot and beetroot saled, which came with a mint based dressing. This made for a delicious combination, of flavours, but left room fo me to indulge in a dessert. For this, I chose apple crumble with Roskilly's ice cream, which was also very tasty. I rounded my meal off with a pot of tea. The service was very good and the ambience of the cafe made this a very enjoyable experience. I was pleased to see that dogs are welcomed here and I look forward to returning with my family and our dog.Apologies for the slow response, but thank you for your positive feedback, and very glad you enjoyed the experience with us! Look forward to seeing you again.

New exciting cafe created and run by Carl and Rachel Grove Also a fantastic studio space accommodating many lifestyle activities.
The Grove Cafe is a place you should certainly visit if you want something different. The Mediterranean style aspects of the menu are brilliantly executed with excellent flavour combinations. There are great soups, homemade bread, and wonderful savoury scones to tempt you, but the biggest temptation is the range of homemade cakes. You will be assured of a warm welcome and check out the events in the Wellbeing Studio while you are there.

A great evening in a beautiful restaurant with a great ambience.Great local food. We enjoyed the pork belly and steak. As a group we tried a variety of desserts including the brownie, ginger pudding, creme brulee and the chesse board. All were first class.Lovely to be offered the local Cornish gin.

What an amazing find of a restaurant tucked away in a small Cornish village. This is London quality food and service in a charming location over looking the harbour. There were two fantastically priced set menus to choose from, with some flexibility between the two menus.Four of us had a fantastic evening with the most amazing food cooked to perfection. My friend was particularly impressed with the blue cheese ice cream.Thank you for a wonderful evening.
