We visited La Baule in the Off season and most eating houses were closed. This small country style restaurant was one that was open. The restaurant naturally specialises in French Country style cooking especially sea food and fish. Unfortunately it's other specialty is cooking with lard, I assume it must give special flavour but clearly it makes many dishes unsuitable for vegetarians and certain other groups of people. As we had no choice late at night we ate at this place. The hostess was quite nice and spoke good English which made it easier to order. The salmon I had was somewhat over cooked and dry but was edible. Surprisingly for a French restaurant there was very little sauce something French cooking is famous for but may be not in this region. My wife had basically sautéed vegetables which again were edible but nothing fancy. The restaurant is small with rustic country feel to it. If we had a choice we would have chosen another restaurant.

Visited in winter, when Pornichet is particularly sleepy, and this place was rammed with locals. It's a god sign. Seems family run, with great attention to detail. I started with a Martini Royale, which was incredibly generous, followed by a well priced entrecote, and irish coffee. All was fairly good, very tasty, wholesome fare. Good, inexpensive wine. It's a pizzeria, but don't be put off by that, it's fairly solid turnout with good value. Since the crumbling of the Pound against the Euro, this isn't as good value, sadly. But they do have very good menus on - â¬12 during the week, â¬20 one at weekend.I was put off at first by how crammed in everyone was, but afterwards I was glad we went in!

The restaurant of Villa Flornoy, the "Secret", it's a mystery that we want to break! An original and refined cuisine, the chef Damien Legault commands, so many reasons to push the door and enjoy these tasty dishes composed of "homemade" dishes made from f
The restaurant is located in the Villa Flornay Hotel which is some 200 metres back from the seafront and close to the Hotel de Ville. The maitre d'hotel, who is a very charming and funny man, gave us a great welcome. We had the table d'hote menu on the two occasions we ate there, one was â¬28 and the other â¬33. Three courses were on offer and both of us enjoyed every course with only one single exception - on the second night I had sorbet with a lemon and olive oil mousse which tasted a little too much of olive oil and had a dramatic effect on my insides!! So the message is be careful in what you choose and I am certain you will have an excellent meal. Dear DonWe thank you very much for your comment. We hope to receive you soon to drip to the other dishes of the chef without olive oil ;)Best regards

Very windy in February and the warmth and welcome of Grain de Folie was very welcome. Service is impeccable and the food really good. We share salmon in different ways and the beef tartar as the pork were prepared to perfection. A very nice place indeed.

We were a party of four that originally wanted to go to a restaurant next door ( good tripadvisor reviews) , but after reading the menu outside decided on this place instead . That was a lucky choice. We all opted for a set meal of one sort or the other - the prices varied between 23 and 31 for a starter , main course , dessert and in some cases also a cheese platter . All of our starters were seafoods ( yummy ), melt in your mouth steaks for main course ( including a random kangaroo one ) , lots of stinky cheeses and desserts ( personally my chocolate one was the best ). We also had wine , a couple of cocktails and beer. The bill for 4 people ( and 3 hours of food) was around 180 euro. It looked like a family run restaurant with only two waitresses ( a mother and daughter ) , only one of them spoke English but the service was very very friendly and the whole restaurant was packed . Overall , a great experience .

We stopped for a bite to eat on a Monday lunchtime in September. This place is extremely popular with locals based on how busy it was, but we were able to get a table on their sheltered terrace without having to wait. The restaurant is both modern and chic in style. Service was extremely polite and friendly, with perfect English spoken. Even the menu (a glossy paper brochure, in the style of a newspaper supplement) was classy, with a good selection of dishes. Our main courses, Fish and Chips, and the Chicken Skewer in Satay sauce, were both delicious, and both a very acceptable portion size. The ice cream (good selection of flavours) was delicious. This would have been a lovely spot to relax all afternoon enjoying the lovely view of the harbour and beach. The outside deckchair area could be mistaken for being for a luxury Indian Ocean resort.Perhaps a little more expensive than some of the other beach cafes, but the quality of this venue makes it good value and definitely worth a visit.Thank you for your lovely comments. We are happy to have provided you with a memorable lunchtime experience.Best regards,Nina's team

In this restaurant You always feel welcomed. Waiters are nice and very friendly. My weak point is that for 3 years I have always selected Raclette and not even tried other choises. Since the first time I loved Raclette served with salad, potatoes and charcutteries. Also the wines have always been perfect. I´ll keep coming back and maybe some day I will give Fondue a change....

Having travelled extensively in France and eaten at many top rated establishments we have to say this small restaurant is amazing. Only husband in the kitchen, wife front of house, the service is managed with care & attention. It will never be fast because that's not the point. It's about the fabulous food. Fish of the day Hake to die for. If you want plat de fruit de mer it's 24 hour order in advance so that everything is fresh from daily supplier. AMAZING THANK YOU
