Aut' Fouee..

Reviewed By Sue L

Just back from a wonderful lunch at Aut Fouee. We've been meaning to go for ages, but on a weekend you really do need to book in advance. This medieval restaurant comes with the patron and serveuse in costume, wood oven going full tilt and hot breads in endless supply throughout a 5 course meal, with apero, wine and coffee for under 25 Euro. Over 2 hours it was a really brilliant meal in a fab environment - even the wash hand basin in the loo with the 'magique' door is something to behold. Maybe not a meal for a vegetarian to truly savour, but for us meat eaters....tres gourmand!

I wrote this on the wrong restaurants page...sorry...it was meant for L'enoteka!Excellent meal here..we just chose the restaurant from the street because it had people in and some atmosphere.. not the biggest steak ever, but beautifully cooked and waiter very charming. Good space and welcoming/comfy decor. Nice.

Fabulous food at the Citadelle. Whilst I don;t think they should have to have great English, it turns out that they do..in fact Callum is a native speaker and a nice guy to boot, but by no means the only bilingual member of staff. Good ambience. Never had a duff meal here...and the tartare is fantastic.

Les Templiers

Ate there on our first night in Parthenay. I had galette (savoury crepe) which was nice. Hubby has there special potato dish (I would describe it as a deconstructed baked potato with filling outside! ). To be fair, filling was delicious and it was a huge platter.....but at €15.....bit steep....house wine was also pricey compared to other restaurants. Nice but too pricey.

Bistro Contemporain

Reviewed By Meluzyna

We held a family birthday meal here (20 people) and although we chose the standard menu the restauranteur went out of his way to be helpful, making the adjustments we asked for and providing a special dessert for the birthday boy, complete with sparklers at no extra cost. The decor and table settings are attractive and if it's a warm day you can have an aperitif at the poolside. I might add that we'd heard mixed reports about the restaurant but apparently it has changed hands (several times) and so anything written about the service or personnel before 2014 is no longer relevant.
