Would totally recommended this lovely restaurant to you. We both really enjoyed the lamb curry and croc monseiur...with a side of delicious salicorns. With super puds..cheese stinky and lovely, choc poi (a delicious cake) and a pichet of wine, we dined out for 65 euros. Tremendous value and a memorably enjoyable meal. Polite and timely service...but book ahead. A succession of excellent reviews means that it's not possible to ealk in - but do book a table...you will not be dissapointed. Even loved the bespoke loo artwork!

Good food, good service, lovely location overlooking harbour. We had a thoroughly good meal here, such that if we are back in Noirmoutier we would return to this resto rather than try another one (we just know we will get a good meal !!)

Nice restaurant, very busy, you must make a reservation. They work with 2 shifts, so the kitchen is working very quick and they serve your dinner very fast. BUT there is only 1 boy who is serving the drinks........for a big restaurant.......so we got our bottle of wine after our maincourse, and we it ordered when we arrived !So : order your drinks and them we they are arrived give then the order the food, you have less irritation and you can enjou the great food for small proces.

We chose L'Auberge de Cesar in part because of positive comments from French visitors. L'Ile de Nourmoutiere is a major tourist destination, well worth seeing in its own right, and this restaurant is situated at the northwestern tip of the island with a nice view of the harbor. We are always somewhat wary of restaurants serving primarily a transient population, as they don't have the same incentive to maintain quality as restaurants with a large number of "regulars", but L'Auberge doesn't fall into the tourist trap category. My mussels and frites were very good - the frites among the best ever, crisp outside and mealy inside, slightly thicker than usual - and my husband enjoyed his vegetarian pizza. There's a nice small wine list, too, with reasonable prices. Service was prompt and friendly and would have been just fine for non French speakers. We would definitely return.

Had the most wonderful lunch here - my wife and I both chose the Plancha de seiches - an absolutely delicious bowl of cuttlefish, mussels, clams, chorizo, lardons, Noirmoutier potatoes and peppers. I've got to say it was actually the best seafood dish I've eaten in a long long time. In fact, so good that we came back the following day and had exactly the same thing again! The staff as well were very friendly and helpful - we sat outside on both occasions so we could park up our bikes just in front and our little 2 year old could run around without causing mayhem!

As we were staying at the hotel, we thought we'd try the in-house restaurant (although the town is only a stroll away). It was pretty much full which may have taken the management by surprise. On the positive side , the food and wine were reasonably priced, tasty and classily presented and the setting charming. But, although there seemed to be plenty of staff around, service seemed stretched. One poor waitress, who seemed to be doing most of the work, was not adequately supervised and kept delivering things to the wrong tables. Our main course went to another table who had ordered the same combination . So they got their main surprisingly early whereas we had a very long wait indeed ( during which the waitress tried to serve us our cheese). All was eventually well and we were offered a complimentary drink in recompense,so we went to bed on balance quite happy. Unfortunately next morning, at checkout we found that the previous night's wine had "accidentally" been overcharged by Euro 11, exactly the price of our 2 "free" drinks. Call me cynical but, well...

The menu is not huge but there is certainly something for everyone. Everything is fresh that day, and very delicious! The menu changes according to what is available at the market. Veronique serves "with a smile" in the very small (26-person seating) restaurant, while her husband does the cooking and preparation. My wife had the fish, and I had the beef. We both started with the tomato and cheese, and ended with the lemon tart. Everything was superb!

My wife and I ate here on our second nite after booking in the morning. Our hotel had told us that currently it is one of the top places to eat. The early sitting was packed with families. Despite this everything was perfect. Highly recommended.
