Good food and lots of it. Went for the buffet and some pierogi. There was plenty to eat and food was hot.

Typical hearty meal native to Eastern Europe!Too much food but welcome to America! It was a very enjoyable meal.We had the app for four, cold. Then we had sinner for four, hot. It was a generous plate and four hungry men could not finish it!

Generous portions of stick-to-the-ribs Bohemian staples, i. e. Roast Duck, Breaded Pork, etc. were well prepared. Service was friendly and efficient. My issue is the vibe. The entrance takes you through a very large bar area. The locals at the bar usually turn around on their stools to see who's coming in. I like bars and I like locals, just not sure if I like walking through them on my way to a family dinner. And the dining area itself reminded me of a school lunchroom. Too large for the amount of tables and pretty much devoid of any ambiance. Not planning a return visit.

French-American Bistro, serving Classic Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner daily from 7am - 10pm...Sunday Brunch, from 11am - 3pm, with Live Jazz.
My wife and I dined at the Hemingway Bistro for our wedding anniversary. We almost always dine at the Hemingway Bistro when weâre visiting Oak Park.Food: superb! We were there on a Tuesday night and my wife enjoyed the lobster special. My dish was jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon. Both dishes were scrumptious. The cuisine is primarily French themed.Service: courteous and professional. We felt welcomed and at ease while dining. The staff was attentive to the clearing the table, refilling our beverages, and checking in on us when appropriate.Decor: romantic dining; excellent choice for a special occasion. However, formal attire (jackets / cocktail dresses are not needed). The general attire is business casual.Price: expensive, but worth every penny for this delightful restaurant. Dinner for two with two appetizers, two main, one dessert, four drinks, and tip was a bit under $200.Overall: I would highly recommend the Hemingway Bistro if youâre in Oak Park and looking for fine dining!

Maybe I can't pronounce it, but it was very tasty! At our table last week, Mrs Reviewer and I each ordered Farmers Platters. We should have ordered one and shared the pork, sausage, ham and potatoes, but we didn't... The star of the table, though, was the Byrndzove Halusky, which is potato dumplings with butter, bacon, and sheep's cheese. Then there was the included dessert (which we took home) homemade Kolacky, a flaky pastry with white cheese or raspberry. I haven't even mentioned the Czech beer! OMG!

Stop by this darling home style restaurant for great Bohemian cooking. Stanley does a fantastic job preparing wonderful food. We love the breaded pork tenderloin. Dinner comes with soup, fresh rye bread, two huge pieces of tenderloin, 3 bread dumplings, side of sweet cabbage plus dessert and coffee. Sooo delicious. Once you visit you will be hooked. Closed Mondays.
